지상파, 종편 뉴스 및 보수우파 유튜브 댓글 분석 : SVM 텍스트 분류와 Glove 방법의 적용

본 연구는 유튜브 내 지상파, 종편, 보수 우파 방송 뉴스 미디어의 댓글을 분석하는 연구이다. 본 연구는 유튜브라는 공간 내 뉴스 미디어 방송 채널 간 댓글의 유사성을 살펴보고, 유사성을 기준으로 여론 지형을 살펴보고자 한다. 5개월간 평일 주중 뉴스 방송에 대한 9개 채널의 댓글을 수집하여 서포트 벡터 머신(Support Vector Machine, SVM)과 단어 임베딩 방법인 Glove 분석 방법을 활용하여 분석하였다. 연구 대상인 이들 9개 방송의 댓글을 기준으로 분석한 결과에 따르면 첫쨰, 유튜브 방송 미디어 댓글 생태계는 크게 MBC 중심 지상파와 정규재TV 보수우파 채널 중심의 2개의 여론 중심이 있는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘쨰, JTBC와 채널A는 중간자적 위치에 있었으나 TV조선은 독자적 위치였다. 셋째, 방송 뉴스 미디어의 댓글이 다루는 이슈는 자료 시기상 ‘검찰’에 관한 사항 등으로 유사하였으나 그 실질적 내용은 중심 인물과 방송에 대한 반응측면에서 여론 중심부가 판이한 형태를 보여, 양극화된 양상으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 유튜브 내 다채널 댓글 생태계에 대한 상호 비교 기반 최초의 경험적 연구라는 의의와 기계학습을 활용한 텍스트 분류 전산사회과학 기반 연구라는 의의를 갖는다.

This study analyzes YouTube comments on three network news, three cable network news, and three conservative-right YouTube creators’ news-format content. After collecting weekday comments on those media for five consecutive months, the study has employed three text analysis methods: word frequency, Glove word embedding and Support Vector Machine(SVM). Particularly, machine learning text classification method SVM is used in order to examine whether comments on each news outlet can be classified into the comments from their news outlet origins. As a result, the study has found three findings. First, two foci of the comments ecology is found. One is MBC and the other is one of conservative creators media called Fun & Mic. Second, SBS and two cable news channels such as JTBC and Channel A were ideological in the middle position between them. Third, it is found that the commentaries are usually dealt with the same issue across examined channels and supporting messages from audiences are often found. However, the subject for supporting was different. For example, the comment message on MBC has shown the support to media outlet, whereas the message on Fun & Mic contains the support to the owner of the channels and Attorney General who seemed to oppose against the governing party. Overall, the study has shown that the comments opinions are divided into two poplars of news media channels. In the future, YouTube creators from liberal-progressive can be added for additional support in order to draw the completed picture with a bird eye view of comments ecology.
