초록/요약(abstract)

A Comparative Study on Gyeonggi Folk Song ‘Noraegarak’ Melody -Focusing on Lee Chun-hee and Jeon Tae-yong’s melodies- Choi Eun-hae Department of Korean Classical Music Graduate School, Kyungpook National University Daegu, Korea (Supervised by professor Yang Seung-Kyung) (ABSTRACT) Minyo (folk song) is a compound of Min (people) and Yo (song) and is one of the folk songs that have been sung orally by the general public. Most of today 's folk songs can be classified into five kinds of Gyeonggi Folk Song, Namdo Folk Song, Dongbu Folk Song, Seodo Folk Song, Jeju-do Folk Song depending on each region and musical characteristics. Among them, Noraegarak of Gyeonggi Folk Song, the subject of this study, can be said to be a folk song which accounts for a considerable proportion of Gyeonggi Area. It can be seen that it was called ‘Noraegarak’, a melody for singing sijo (traditional three-verse Korean poem) in that the old people often call the lyrics and sijo belonging to the classical music as 'songs'. Noraegarak, which has been widely spread, has been handed down to today with various singing styles and melodies by many great singers. The purpose of this study is to examine the differences between Jeon Tae-yong’s melodies and Lee Chun-hee’s melodies to analyze the difference between the two songs. This paper examined ‘Noraegarak’ of Lee Chun-hee and Jeon Tae-yong among Gyeonggi Folk Songs and as a result, there was a difference in the number of beats in each chapter. It was found that each chapter consists of 5+8+8+5+5(3+8+8+5+5). Thus, we divided it into 5+8(3+8)/8+5+5 and compared and analyzed main notes. The results are as follows: The analysis of main notes of Lee Chun-hee’s melodies and Jeon Tae-yong’s melodies showed that different melodies appeared consecutively in the first verse of each chapter. The same melody has a section that proceeds continuously in all chapters. In particular, the melody with the downward structure goes down in the same way and appeared a lot in the melodies of both Lee Chun-hee and Jeon Tae-yong mostly at the end bar of each chapter. Lee Chun-hee’s Noraegarak has the form of concise and universal Gyeonggi Folk Song and the rhythm is also composed of almost all the notes in a certain length within a bar but Jeon Tae-yong arranged the overall melody with the wide sound range and notes with irregular lengths of notes in one bar. We hope that this study will be helpful for researchers dealing with Gyeonggi Folk Song in the future.
