Human Rights Violation to Myanmar Street Children in Thai-Myanmar Border

초록/요약

The neighbor country of Myanmar , Thailand has been a major destination for Myanmar migrant people for many decades. Along Thai-Myanmar border, there are mostly some specific Myanmar ethnic groups such as Karen, Mon and Sahn, are residing before. Mae Sot, Thailand is the close border town of Myanmar and Thailand and there are over 140,000 migrants are living in the refugee camps because of the 60 years of civil war in Myanmar. Some families and children are flee from refugee camps to beg on the streets, becoming the sole breadwinners for their households, and exposing themselves to violent abuse, crime and the risk of abduction. (International, 2014). Approximately, Myanmar migrants and the ethnic minorities coming to Thailand have been increased around 1980-1990s. (Rights, 2009). The daily wages of ordinary migrant worker in Thailand is only US$ 10.(Hall, 2013) However, it is ten times higher than the workers inside Myanmar as there are the differences currency strength between Myanmar and Thailand. Most of the Burmese migrant workers in Thailand are unskilled occupations such as agriculture, construction, fisheries, and domestic service because Thai government maintains that only unskilled migrant workers can be employed. There are some workers who are taking jobs as manufacturing, services and sales, transport and so on. Only tiny minority of Myanmar migrant just come and staying the border for the reason of daily living survive. They came with the family so children are inevitability arrive in Thailand illegally. So, this research paper would like to describe about the reason of street children and their way of survive for their family, themselves. In addition, how the street children are being the victims of violated human rights and how they survive for their living. And also, there are many humanitarian organizations who are working for Myanmar migrant issues and human rights. So, this research paper will also describe the organizations which are working for the street children issue and how the organizations are taking the action for the human rights violation for the street children.
