Union-Unionists' Family Relations and Its Impact to Union Agenda

The main purpose of this research is to describe and evaluate how unions in Indonesia establish their relation with unionists' family. The research was conducted in Jakarta and surrounding cities, based on the cases of three worker unions: SPPD in Tangerang, SBC in Cakung, and SP-PPMI in Bekasi. This research used qualitative approach with case study method. The data collected by bibliographic research, observation, interview, and documentation. The result concluded that each union case has different approach to establish it relation with unionists' family. The approach varies according to their demography, agency, and structure. SPPD is considered as the most successful case because (1) married female members are well represented in the union, (2) SPPD’s goal is the simplest among other, (3) the program genuinely initiated by the needs of SPPD as factory unit, (4) SPPD has institutionalize the effort by establishing Regional Coordinators.
