Application prefetchers improve application launch performance on HDDs through either I/O reordering or I/O interleaving, but there has been no proposal to combine the two techniques. We present a new algorithm to combine both approaches, and demonstrate that it reduces cold start launch time by 50%. © Copyright 2015 The Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers.
