Analytical studies for the effect of thickness and axial load on load bearing capacity of fire damaged concrete walls with different sizes

초록/요약

The objective of this paper is an investigation of the effects of the wall thickness and axial loading on the load-bearing capacity of a fire damaged normal strength concrete wall. Toward this goal, analytical modeling methods are developed to predict thermal and structural behaviors of reinforced concrete walls having different wall thicknesses and magnitudes of axial loads. The predicted residual strengths of the fire damaged wall models are then compared with the existing experimental results for validation and show good agreements. Since the validation is done for relatively small sized walls, the analytical modeling method is applied for predicting the load-bearing capacities of fire damaged concrete walls with the larger slenderness ratio. The analytical results show that wall thickness has a significant effect on the load bearing capacity of the fire damaged walls especially when the wall has high slenderness ratio. © 2019, © 2019 Korea Institute for Structural Maintenance and Inspection.
