초록/요약
연구목적: 본 연구의 목적은 서울 지역 중학교 발달장애학생 부모의 자녀 중학교 선택 요인을 산출하고, 특수학급 혹은 특수학교를 선택한 부모집단 간에 그리고 자녀의 장애 정도에 따른 세 부모집단 간 자녀 중학교 선택 요인에서 유의한 차이가 있는지 밝히는 것이다. 연구방법: 2018년도 중학교 1학년 발달장애학생의 부모를 대상으로 특수학급 설치 일반중학교 및 특수학교에 500부 서면 및 온라인 질문지를 전달하여 총 305부(서울 중학교 1학년 발달장애학생 총수 533명의 57.2%)의 응답을 통계분석하였다. 연구결과: 첫째, 중학교 선택의 6개 요인(Ⅰ요인: 중학교 진학 관련 정보, Ⅱ요인: 자녀의 현행수행수준 및 특성, Ⅲ요인: 특수교사의 태도 및 전문성, Ⅳ요인: 학교에서의 또래 관계, Ⅴ요인: 장애인 편의시설 및 자녀의 건강 문제, Ⅵ요인: 통학 편의성)이 산출되었다. 둘째, 특수학급 및 특수학교 학생의 부모가 고려한 중학교 선택 요인에는 유의한 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 자녀의 장애 정도에 따라 부모가 고려한 중학교 선택 요인에는 유의한 차이가 나타났다. 결론: 발달장애학생 부모의 자녀 중학교 선택 요인 6개 고려 순위와 자녀의 학교 배치와 장애정도에 따라 부모가 고려한 요인에서 차이를 나타낸 결과는 발달장애학생의 중학교로의 전환 시 중학교 진학 준비와 특수학급과 특수학교 옵션 중 최선의 중학교 선택을 하는데 부모와 교사에게 주요한 자료를 제공하는 의의가 있다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the factors considered by parents when selecting middle school for their children with developmental disabilities and investigate the differences in the factors considered by a parent group with children in special classes and a parent group with children in special schools. Method: The responses to the survey with 52 items were collected from parents of children with developmental disabilities who were enrolled in middle school in 2018 in Seoul. A total of 305 parents’ responses were used for statistical analyses. Results: First, six factors were named as Factor I: Information about Middle School Entrance, Factor Ⅱ: Children’s Present Level of Performance and Characteristics, Factor Ⅲ: Special Teachers’ Attitudes and Expertise, Factor Ⅳ: Peer Relationship at School, Factor Ⅴ: Facilities for Children with Disabilities and Health Problems and Factor Ⅵ: Convenience in Commuting to School. Second, significant differences were found in the factors considered by the parent groups regarding the choice of a special class and a special school. Third, there were significant differences in the factors considered by parent subgroups according to the severity of their children’s disabilities. Conclusion: This study generated a set of useful data to be used for assisting parents who need to select the best middle school for their children with developmental disabilities.
