Intergenerational Comparison of Successful Aging Perception, Lifestyle and Self-Esteem

초록/요약

This study explores the intergenerational differences in successful aging perception between millennials and second wave baby boomers in South Korea. To compare the two generations, a survey with 635 respondents was conducted. There were both differences and similarities in successful aging perception between the two generations even though they are consisted with different lifestyle groups. The most important construct for successful aging for both generations was ‘ease of daily life,’ followed by ‘personal growth’ and ‘social and psychological well-being,’ and the millennials considered ‘personal growth’ as more significant. Respondents with high self-esteem had higher successful aging perception scores. © 2021 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
