초록/요약
본 연구의 목적은 중학교 2학년 학생들을 대상으로 지역사회의 범죄 수준과 부모의 양육태도에 따라 비행친구관계가 달라지는지 분석하는 것이다. 지금까지 우리나라의 연구에서 비행친구는 청소년비행의 원인으로만 간주되어온 경향이 있다. 하지만 비행친구가 비행의 중요한 원인이라면, 이를 예측하는 요인을 탐색하는 것도 청소년 연구에서 중요할 것이다. 이를 위해 한국아동·청소년패널조사의 초등학교 4학년 패널 5차년도 자료와 통계청의 범죄분석 자료를 활용하여 지역과 개인 수준의 다층구조자료에 적합한 위계선형모형(Hierarchical Linear Model: HLM)의 확장된 형태인 위계적 일반화 선형회귀모형(Hierarchical Generalized Linear Model: HGLM)을 이용하여 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 지역사회 범죄율은 비행친구 유무에 유의미한 영향을 끼치는 것으로 나타나 지역사회 범죄 수준이 증가할수록 비행친구를 사귈 가능성이 증가하였다. 다음으로, 부모의 양육태도에 따른 비행친구 유무의 영향을 살펴본 결과, 긍정적인 양육태도인 감독에서 비행친구 감소 효과가 나타났고, 부정적 양육태도인 과잉간섭에서 비행친구 증가 효과가 나타났다. 하지만 부모의 애정, 방임, 학대는 비행친구 유무에 유의미한 영향을 끼치지 않았다. 또한 부모의 양육태도를 통제해도, 범죄율이 높은 지역에 사는 것은 비행친구를 사귈 가능성을 높이는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구결과는 지역사회 범죄 예방의 중요성과 더불어 어떻게 하면 자녀에게 과도하게 간섭하지 않으면서 적절하게 감독할 수 있을지 부모 역할에 대한 교육의 필요성에 관한 함의를 제공하였다.

This study aims to examine whether neighborhood crime rates and parenting attitudes are associated with the presence of delinquent peers among 2nd year middle school students. This study utilizes neighborhood crime data from the Korean Statistical Information and E-local services and adolescent data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey. The findings suggest that higher neighborhood crime rates are associated with higher odds of having delinquent peers. Additionally, having parents who exhibit positive parenting behaviors, especially in terms of supervision, is associated with lower odds of having delinquent peers, while having parents with negative parenting behavior, such as over-control, is associated with higher odds of having delinquent peers. Although parenting attitudes are controlled for in the analyses, living in neighborhoods with high crime rates increases the odds of having delinquent peers. The implications of this study suggest that alleviating neighborhood crime and promoting positive parenting attitudes can reduce the chance of having delinquent peers, which may, in turn, prevent juvenile delinquency.
