초록/요약
This study analyzed the three aspects of Kanashima Taisui’s personality that have been presented in previous studies from a more content-centric perspective. Previous studies assumed that Kanashima was 1) a non-expert of the Korean language, 2) an army interpreter, 3) a staff member at a publishing house. The present study points out the need of a cautious approach to these three inferences as they are in fact made upon different perspectives of evaluation criteria. Through the present study, it became clear that to objectify these inferences, it is necessary to identify Kanashima Taisui’s personality through a precise analysis of the texts, including analysis on his linguistic ability, the details of the given situations of the dialogues included and their texts.

이 논문에서는 가나시마 다이스이에 대한 기존 연구에서 논의된 인물상에 대해 가나시마의 日韓會話三十日間速成을 통해 검토했다. 기존 연구에서 언급된 그의 인물상은 ① 한국어 비전문가, ② 육군 통역, ③ 출판사 편집국 직원이라는 추정이다. 이러한 추정은 각각 근거에 입각한 추정이다. 다만 한 인물에 대한 평가는 다양한 측면에서 종합적으로 판단해야 한다는 관점에서 선행연구에서는 충분히 조명되지 않은 여러 관점에서 분석을 시도했다. 그 결과 ① 한국어 비전문가라는 점에 대해 비록 공적인 기관에서 교육 받거나 가르치지는 않았지만 가나시마는 당시 한국어에 대해 상당한 능력을 갖고 있었다고 판단된다. ② 육군 통역이라는 기존 연구에 대해서는 그 가능성이 농후함을 부정할 수 없지만 ③의 출판사 편집국 직원이라는 점과 함께 고려하면 이 부분에 대해서는 시간적 경과를 고려해서 전직 군인이었고 速成 집필 당시에는 출판사에서 일했었을 가능성이 높다는 점을 주장했다.
