호러(Horror)시청 공포감이 시청 즐거움에 미치는 영향: 심리적 거리감의 매개효과를 중심으로

초록/요약
호러(horror) 영상물 시청시 긍정적인 즐거움과 공포감과 같은 부정적인 정서가 함께 수반된다. 이에 본 연구는 호러 시청 중 형성되는 공포감과 즐 거움의 모순적인 감정에 초점을 두고 그의 형성 원인을 밝히고자 한다. 이 를 위해 최근 2년간 호러물 시청 경험이 있는 288명을 대상으로 설문조사 를 시행하였다. 연구 결과, 호러 시청시 수용자의 몰입은 공포감에 긍정적 인 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한, 즐거움의 요인분석 한 결과, 향락 적 즐거움, 감상적 즐거움, 안도적 즐거움 세 가지 요인이 추출되었다. 호러 시청시 느끼는 공포감은 향락적 즐거움의 형성에 부정적인 영향을 미치지 만 감상적 즐거움의 형성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤다. 반면, 호러 시청시 느 끼는 공포감은 안도적 즐거움에 유의미한 영향을 미치지 않았다. 마지막으 로, 심리적 거리감은 공포감과 안도적 즐거움 사이를 완전매개 하는 것으로 확인되었다. 공포감이 안도적 즐거움에 직접적으로 유의미한 영향을 미치 지 못하지만 심리적 거리감을 통해서 안도적 즐거움에 긍정적인 영향을 미 치는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 호러물 시청 중 발생하는 공포감이 즐거 움으로 전환되는 과정에 대한 실증적인 해석을 숭고미로 설명하는 새로운 시도를 하였다.

This study focuses on the fright reactions and enjoyment, two contradictory emotions people experience while watching horror movies, and aims to identify the relationship between them. Through survey, 288 samples were collected and the analyzed. Results are as follows: transportation has a positive effect on fright reactions. In addition, the factor analysis of enjoyment resulted in the extraction of three factors: hedonic enjoyment, appreciative enjoyment and relieved enjoyment. Fright reactions in watching horror has a negative effect on the formation of hedonistic enjoyment, but has a positive effect on the formation of appreciative enjoyment. The fright reaction during watching horror didn’t have a significant impact on relieved enjoyment. Finally, psychological distance was tested as a mediator between fright reaction and enjoyment. A mediation analysis showed that fright reaction had a positive effect on relievedenjoyment through psychological distance. This study has filled some gaps in the field of horror research by showing how fright reaction turns into relieved enjoyment.
