코로나19 감염병 위기상황의 장기화로 인해 전국의 초중등학교와 대학들은 2020년 1학기에 이어 2학기도 온라인 개학상황에서 수업을 진행하게 되었다. 이제는 많은 이들이 ‘한시적’일 것으로 간주했던 온라인 수업으로의 전환을 “언택트 뉴노멀(untact new normal)” 시대의 전면적이고 비가역적인 변화로 받아들이고, 그간 학습의 촉진을 위해 경주해온 교육공학 분야의 교수설계 연구와 실천의 연장선상에서 온라인 수업의 설계와 운영을 고민해볼 필요가 있다. 이에 본 논문은 학습을 촉진하는 핵심적인 요인임에도 실제 수업현장에서의 적용은 쉽지 않아 선행연구들에서 오랜 관심의 대상이 되어왔던 수업에서의 상호작용, 협력학습, 평가의 관점에서 코로나19 시대 온라인 수업이 당면한 도전을 살펴보고 향후 해결해야 할 과제들을 다음과 같이 제안하였다. 첫째, 온라인 수업에서는 동시적, 비동시적 온라인 맥락의 특성별로 차별화된 상호작용 설계가 필요하다. 둘째, 온라인 수업설계시 공동의 과업 수행 지원, 협력 과정에 대한 모니터링 지원, 교수자의 피드백 설계 관련 후속연구가 이루어질 필요가 있다. 셋째, 온라인 평가의 특성을 고찰하고 온라인 평가의 신뢰도 제고를 위한 학습자중심평가 설계와 제도기반 마련을 위한 제언과 평가에 대한 인식의 전환이 요구된다.

Due to the ongoing pandemic of COVID-19, K-12 schools as well as colleges and universities across the country have just began another semester online. Many people seem to treat online classes as a passing trend, if not a temporary solution to replace offline classes during the pandemic, but we have to embrace them as an inevitable, irreversible shift of paradigm as part of “untact new normal” age of COVID-19. It is necessary that we approach the design and implementation of online classes along the same line of research and practice in the field of educational technology striving for designing quality instruction. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to address the challenges facing online classes during the COVID-19 pandemic and to suggest following tasks to our research community: differentiated design of interaction in synchronous and asynchronous modes; better support for collaborative problem-solving and group processes in online environment and learner-centered, reliable online assessment system.
