본 연구는 중학생의 교사와 친구 관계가 그릿(Grit)을 매개로 학업 무기력과 어떤 관계가있는지 확인하고, 성별에 따른 차이가 있는지 분석하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국청소년정책연구원의 「한국아동·청소년패널조사(KCYPS) 2018」중학교 1학년 패널의 1차년도(2018) 자료(N=2,590)를 활용하여 구조방정식 모형을 통한 다집단 분석을 실시하였다. 그릿(Grit)은 ‘흥미 유지’와 ‘노력 지속’의 하위 요인으로 나누어 매개효과를 검증하였다. 연구 결과, 첫째, 긍정적인 교사 및 친구 관계는 그릿의 흥미 유지와 노력 지속에 정적인 영향을 미치며, 모든잠재변수와 학업 무기력 간에는 부적 영향이 나타났다. 둘째, 교사 및 친구 관계와 학업 무기력 간에 그릿-흥미 유지와 그릿-노력 지속은 부분매개효과가 있으며, 교사 변수의 직‧간접효과가 더 높게 추정되었다. 셋째, 성별에 따른 다집단 분석을 실시한 결과, 교사와의 관계가그릿-흥미 유지에 미치는 경로계수에서 성차(남<여)가 통계적으로 유의하였으나, 조절된 매개효과는 성별에 따라 유의한 차이가 없었다. 본 연구는 교사 및 친구 관계, 그릿(Grit)이 학업 무기력과 밀접한 관계가 있는 변수임을 확인하였으며, 도출된 연구 결과를 토대로 정책적시사점을 제시하였다.

The purpose of this study is to identify the structural relationship between teacherrelationship, friendship, grit, and academic helplessness, and to analyze differences bygender. Drawing on the first wave of data of the middle school panels (N=2,590) ofThe Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) 2018 administered by theNational Youth Policy Institute, this study conducts a multi-group analysis usingstructural equation modeling. In particular, grit is verified by dividing it into twosubfactors of ‘consistency of interest’ and ‘perseverance of effort’. The results were asfollows: First, teachers’ and friends’ variables had a positive effect on grit's twocomponents, and negative effects were found between all latent variables andacademic helplessness. Second, grit's two components had a partial mediating effectwith all variables, and the direct and indirect effects of teacher variables were foundto be greater than friend variables. Third, the result of a multi-group analysis showedthat the path coefficient for ‘consistency of interest’ concerning 'teacher relationship'was statistically significant (male<female); however, the mediating effect was notsignificant by gender. This study demonstrates that the relationship between teachers,friends, and grit are variables closely related to academic helplessness, and suggestspolicy implications based on the research results.
