Objectives: This study aimed to examine the direct effect of marital conflict on children's executivefunction, emotion regulation, and problem behavior and indirect effects through maternal parentingbehavior and children's sleep. Methods: A total of 467 elementary students from first to third grade and their mothers participatedin this study. Data were collected through maternal reports. Results: First, it was found that marital conflict did not have a direct effect on children’s executivefunction, emotion regulation, and problem behavior. Second, marital conflict had an indirect effect onchildren’s development through maternal parenting behavior, and through maternal parenting behaviorand sleep problems. However, the indirect effects of marital conflict on children’s development throughsleep problems were not significant. Conclusion: Our study findings emphasize the importance of maternal parenting behavior inchildren’s sleep problems and development.
