본 연구는 초등학교 고학년 학생들의 사회정서역량을 정확하게 측정할 수 있는 사회정서역량척도를 개발하고, 이 척도의 신뢰도 및 타당도를 검증하는 데 그 목적이 있다. 문헌분석을 통하여 사회정서역량의 개념을 정리하고, 도출된 구성요인을 토대로 척도 초안을 개발한 후, 사회정서역량 관련 분야의 전문가들을 대상으로 2회(1차: 서면 피드백 및 면담, 2차: 델파이 조사)에 걸쳐 내용타당도 검증을 실시하고 초등학교 고학년 학생 72명을 대상으로 예비 조사를 실시하였다. 예비 조사에서 수합된 피드백을 바탕으로 척도를 수정한 후 초등학교 고학년 학생 500명을 대상으로 본 조사를 실시하였다. 본 조사에 응답한 376명의 응답 자료에 대해 기술통계를 분석하고 확인적 요인분석을 실시하여 본 척도의 신뢰도와 타당도 근거를 확보하는 타당화를 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 사회정서역량척도는 자기인식 요인(6문항), 자기관리 요인(6문항), 사회적 인식 요인(5문항), 관계관리 요인(10문항), 책임 있는 의사결정 요인(4문항)의 31문항으로 구성되었다. 척도의 모든 적합도 지수는 적절한 수준으로 나타났다. 공인타당도 검증을 위해 사회성 기술 평정척도와 정서지능검사 고학년용과의 상관계수를 살펴본 결과, 두 가지 모두 사회정서역량척도와 유의한 상관관계를 나타냈다. 또한 최종 확정된 사회정서역량척도(31문항)는 적정 수준의 신뢰도를 가진 도구임을 확인하였다.

This study was conducted to develop the scale that can accurately measure the social emotional competences of elementary school students in grades 4-6 and to verify that the scale has adequate reliability and validity. A review of the literature was conducted on the previous studies about social emotional competences to derive concepts and components of social emotional competences and 130 initial items were extracted based on the review. Then, the initial items were to check the content validity with experts and a pilot survey was conducted on 72 elementary school students. Based on the feedback from the pilot survey, the scale was revised and finalized for validation. The final survey questionnaires were distributed to 500 students and 376 students responded. The collected data were used to test the reliability and the validity of the scale. The final 31 items were derived from confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) that includes ‘self-awareness factor’ (6 items), ‘self-management factor’ (6 items), ‘social awareness factor’ (5 items), ‘relationship management factor’ (10 items), and ‘responsible decision making factor’ (4 items). The goodness of fit of the final model indicated that the model was appropriate. Correlation analysis was conducted to secure concurrent validity. The reliability coefficient between the scale of this study and Social Skills Rating System (SSRS) and Emotional Quotient (Grades 4-6) was significant for both pairs. The overall Cronbach's also indicated moderate-to-high reliability.
