초록/요약
본 예술기반 연구는 전래동화 <해와 달이 된 오누이>를 통해 자살사고에 대한 당사자의 내부자적 관점을 탐색하고 그에 대한 심리적 개입의 실마리를 찾고자 함에 목적이 있다. 인간이 자신에게 행할 수 있는 가장 극단적인 행위인 자살은 그동안 다양한 분야에서 연구되었다. 그중 자살을 시도한 당사자들의 내부자적 관점에 관한 연구는 공통적으로 자살의 실질적인 중재를 위한 중요한 시점을 제공해왔다. 그러나 자살이 비언어적이고 복합적인 의사소통의 행동적 발현임을 고려했을 때, 기존의 선행 연구들은 자살이라는 현상을 주로 언어에 의존하여 접근했다는 한계가 있다. 따라서 본 연구자는 <해와 달이 된 오누이>를 통해 자살사고에 대한 비언어적인 관점을 고찰하고자 예술기반 연구를 수행하였으며, 이를 위해 연구에 동참한 미술치료 관련 전공의 석박사과정에 재학 중인 7명의 예술가와 함께 ‘어머니의 죽음’, ‘호랑이의 존재’, ‘나무 위 공간’, ‘동아줄과 하늘나라의 환상’의 4개의 주제로 예술작업을 진행하고 토론하였다. 마지막으로 연구자를 포함한 참여 예술가들 모두 동화의 새로운 결말을 제시하여 자살사고 개입을 위한 열린 방안들을 제공함으로 연구를 통한 담론의 장을 이어가고자 하였다.

This art-based research aims to explore internal perspectives of a suicidal mind through the traditional folk tale <The Sun and the Moon> and find clues to therapeutic intervention. Suicide, the most extreme act that one can do to oneself, has been studied in various fields. Among them, research on the internal perspectives of those who attempted suicide has provided important perspectives on practical approaches to suicide prevention. However, considering that suicide is a behavioral manifestation of nonverbal and complex communication, previous studies were limited in accessing the phenomenon mainly based on a verbal level. Therefore, the researcher conducted an art-based research to explore the nonverbal and symbolic side of a suicidal mind through the main characters from the traditional folk tale <The Sun and the Moon>. Accordingly, the researcher and the seven artists, who major in art therapy related fields, completed artworks under the four themes of “Mother’s Death,” “The Existence of Tiger,” “The Top of the Tree,” and “Fantasy of Rope and Heaven,” followed by in-depth discussions. Finally, all participating artists including the researcher created a new ending to the original version, which provided various possibilities to intervene for those with a suicidal mind.
