본고에서는 2014년부터 2020년 2분기까지 『표준국어대사전』에 추가된 표제어 총 100개 가운데 어휘적 단어의 자격을 가지는 86개를 대상으로 표제어 추가에 영향을 미친 계열 관계에 주목하였다. 86개 단어 가운데 43개 추가 표제어가 계열 관계를 보인 것으로 분석하였는데 계열 관계는 크게 의미 관계, 유추, 높임 관계, 기타의 네 가지로 나누었다. 먼저 의미 관계는 유의 관계와 반의 관계로 다시 나누었는데 유의 관계는 또 단독적 유의 관계와 상관적 유의 관계로 세분하였다. 이는 유의 관계에 따른 표제어 추가가 어느 정도 필연성을 가지느냐에 따른 분류인데 빈칸에 빗댄다면 앞의 것은 우연적 계열 관계, 뒤의 것은 체계적 계열 관계라 할 수 있다. 반의 관계도 체계적 계열 관계에 해당하는데 체계적 계열 관계를 보이는 것들은 모두 유추의 도식을 보인다. 기존의 논의에서는 표면적 유사성에 따른 유추, 구조적 유사성에 따른 유추를 상정한 바 있는데 본고에서는 의미 관계의 유사성에 따른 유추라는 새로운 유형을 제안하게 된 셈이다. 반의 관계는 후행 요소가 공통 요소이고 선행 요소가 반의 관계를 보여 전체적으로 반의 관계에 놓인 것들이 가장 많았다. 다음으로 유추는, 이러한 의미 관계에 따른 유추가 아니라 추가된 표제어 가운데 그동안 제시되었던 구조적 유사성에 따른 유추를 보이는 경우를 위한 것이다. 한편 높임 관계는 기존 표제어와의 ‘높임’이나 ‘겸양’과 같은 것이 기제가 되어 추가 표제어가 기존 표제어와 가지는 관계를 포착할 수 있는 경우를 위한 것이다. 이 경우는 일반적인 유의 관계와는 달리 어간과 특정 어미 결합 과정에서 빈칸이 채워지는 경우가 존재한다는 점에서 따로 다루었다. 마지막 기타는 형식적으로 증감의 차이가 있으나 일련의 계열체에서 빈칸을 채우는 과정을 상정할 수 있는 경우를 위한 것이다.

This paper aims at investigating the added entry words of Standard Korean Language Dictionary in terms of paradigmatic relations. The paradigmatic relations are divided into semantic relations, analogy, honorific relations and the rest. Firstly, semantic relations can be divided into synonymic relations and antonymic relations. Synonymic relations can be divided into independent relations and correlative relations depending on the inevitability of existence of added entry words. Comparing to the concept pf ‘gaps’, the former can be seen as ‘accidental paradigmatic relations’ and the latter ‘systematic paradigmatic relations’. Antonymic relations shows ‘systematic paradigmatic relations’ too. These systematic paradigmatic relations can be explained by a scheme of analogy. These kinds of analogy based on the similarity of semantic relation never be mentioned before. Secondly, analogy, therefore, reductionally means analogy based on structural similarity. Thirdly, honorific relations are a kind of mechanism to catch the relations between added entry words and existing entry words through honorification. Fourthly, the rest shows a paradigmatic relation through a kind of paradigm which extends the size of words gradually.
