한국 전통 끈 보자기의 조형미를 적용한 제로 웨이스트 패션디자인 연구

패션산업은 환경오염에 영향을 미치는 주요 산업으로 이를 해결하기 위한 국내외 움직임이 최근 더욱 활발해지며 패션업계의 환경적 책임과 행동의 전환이 요구되고 있다. 이 중 의류 제조과정에서 배출되는 폐기물량도 상당하여 이를 현저히 줄이는 제로 웨이스트 패션디자인이 하나의 대안으로 주목되고 있다. 이러한추세에 따라 본 연구는 제로 웨이스트 패션디자인의 실현 방안으로서 한국 전통 끈 보자기를 표현 모티프로선정하여 그 조형미를 분석하고 디자인에 적용하여 고유의 독특한 멋을 표현할 뿐 아니라 환경을 고려한지속가능한 패션디자인을 실현함에 목적이 있다. 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 끈 보자기의 이론적 고찰을 통해 그 특성을 분석하여 친환경성, 포용성, 고정성으로 도출하였다. 둘째, 끈 보자기의 조형미를 분석한결과 중첩의 미, 가변적 미, 색채의 미, 선과 면의 미로 도출하였다. 셋째, 지속가능한 패션디자인을 목적으로우리나라의 전통 끈 보자기를 적용한 결과, 사각형 형태와 끈을 활용하는 유스업 패턴을 통해 제작과정에서폐기물을 현저히 줄이고 기존의 제작방식을 간소화하는 친환경적 제로 웨이스트 패션디자인 방법임을 확인할 수 있었다. 넷째, 보자기의 형태와 구조를 적용하여 패턴을 구성하고 끈을 활용했을 때, 단순한 의상의형태에 셔링, 드레이프 등의 장식적 요소가 부가되어 인체의 곡선적 조형미를 강조할 수 있었다. 다섯째, 끈보자기의 고정성에 기반하여 끈의 개수와 위치에 따라 묶는 방식을 디자인에 다양하게 활용함으로써 가변적미가 창출됨을 알 수 있었다. 이는 실제 작품 제작 과정에서 묶는 방식에 따라 카디건에서 드레스 등으로아이템이 전환되며, 실루엣, 디테일이 다양하게 변화하는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 여섯째, 겉감과 안감 또는끈에 색채 특성을 적용한 결과 명도 대비, 채도 대비 등 색채의 미가 강조되고 리버시블 디자인으로 효용성을높일 수 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 일곱째, 끈을 의상에 적용했을 때 다양한 선적 조형미를 강조할 수 있고이동을 통해 면을 중첩해 중첩의 미와 함께 새로운 선과 면의 조형미를 창출하는 가능성을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 연구를 통해 향후 자연과 인간을 하나로 여기고 낭비 없는 문화를 실천했던 우리 선조들의 전통문화유산에서 지혜와 미적 가치를 찾는 연구가 활성화되길 기대한다.

As one of the industries that contribute greatly to environmental pollution, the fashion industry is required to make practical changes in environmental responsibility and behaviors. Zero waste fashion design has emerged as a practical alternative to reduce or eliminate fabric waste through planning in advance. Following this trend, this study chose Korean traditional string Bojagi as a design motif due to its unique sculptural beauty, which minimizes fabric waste as a method of zero waste fashion design. Therefore, this study analyzed the formative features of string Bojagi and 3 pieces of zero waste fashion design were suggested reflecting these elements. The results of the study are as follows: First, the characteristics of Korean traditional string Bojagi were analyzed as sustainability, inclusiveness and fixedness. Second, the formative features of string Bojagi were analyzed as beauty of overlapping, of variableness, of lines and surfaces. Third, as a result of applying Korean traditional string Bojagi to fashion design, we were able to propose a sustainable zero waste fashion design method that significantly reduces fabric waste and simplifies the existing production process, utilizing square pattern with strings. Fourth, when configuring the pattern based on the shape and structure of the Bojagi and utilizing the string, a variety of silhouettes and decorative elements such as shirring and drape were added to the simple square form and emphasized the sculptural aesthetic of a curved human body. Fifth, it was confirmed that the beauty of variableness could be created when applying various numbers and positions of strings with fixedness. Sixth, when applying the color characteristics to the outer, lining, and strings, it was confirmed that the beauty of color, such as brightness contrast and saturation contrast, is emphasized and it is expected to increase the utility with a reversible design. Seventh, when applying the strings to the clothes, it was possible to emphasize various formative beauty of lines and overlapped surfaces and to create new lines and surfaces by dragging them. Furthermore, if researches are conducted to find various motives and techniques from cultural heritage of our ancestors, who have led a free-of-waste culture treating nature and human beings as one, there is a potential with unlimited expansion.
