노년층을 위한 국어문화 프로그램 개발의 필요성 및 요구 조사 분석 연구

A Study on the Needs and Necessities for the Development of Korean Language and Culture Programs for the Elderly

초록/요약

이 연구는 고령 사회의 노년층을 위한 국어문화 프로그램을 개발하기 위하여 노년층의 현황과 요구를 조사하는 연구이다. 기초 문해 교육에 치중해 온 그간의 국어문화 프로그램을 넘어서는 다양한 프로그램을 기획하기 위하여, 기초적 교육과정, 개인적 교육과정, 사회적 교육과정, 문화적 교육과정의 네 분야의 교육과정을 구안하고, 각 교육과정 개발에 필요한 요구 사항을 조사하였다. 기초적 교육과정에 해당하는 ‘사회적 소통을 위한 맞춤법과 어휘 학습 프로그램’ 개발을 위한 조사에서는 새로워진 맞춤법과 새로 생긴 말에 대해 노년층이 느끼는 부담감과 어려움을 파악하였다. 노년기 학습자들에게는 ‘디지털 테크놀로지와 전자 매체에 대한 적응’과 ‘노화와 직결된 건강 및 의료’ 문제가 이들 사회적 삶에서 주된 문화적 초점에 해당한다는 점을 확인할 수 있었다. 개인적 교육과정에 해당하는 ‘치유와 성찰을 위한 자기 서사 쓰기 프로그램’ 개발을 위한 조사에서는 문학 작품에 대한 관심을 확인하고, 선호하는 이야기 주제나 형태에 대해 조사하였다. 노년층에서 전반적으로 문학에 대한 관심이 높고, 자기 서사 쓰기에 대한 관심도도 매우 높은 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 사회적 교육과정에 해당하는 ‘세대 간 갈등 극복을 위한 화법 프로그램’ 개발을 위해서는 세대 간 소통과 관련한 노년층의 인식, 현황, 그리고 요구 사항을 조사하였다. 노년층에서 세대 간 소통에 대해 어려움을 느낀다는 점, 자기 표현에 적극적이지 않으며 실용적인 학습 내용을 선호한다는 점 등을 확인할 수 있었으며, 프로그램 개발의 방향을 적절하게 설정하기 위한 실증적 토대를 확보할 수 있었다. 문화적 교육과정에 해당하는 ‘세상으로 나아가는 시 향유 활동 프로그램’ 개발을 위한 조사에서는 상대적으로 가까이 하기 어려웠던 시라는 갈래에 대한 인식, 알고 있는 시인, 시 낭송에 대한 관심, 그리고 사용 가능하며 선호하는 매체에 대한 정보를 얻을 수 있었다. 학력 변인이나 성별 변인에 따라 나타나는 차이들을 통해 향후 프로그램 개발 시 유의해야 할 사항들을 명확히 할 수 있었다. 이 연구에서는 지역, 성별, 학력, 직업 유무 등 여러 요인들을 고려한 조사를 통해 노년층을 위한 국어문화 프로그램 개발 과정에서 세심히 살펴야 할 여러 사항들에 대해 유의미한 결과를 얻을 수 있었다.

초록/요약

This study is an analysis of the needs of the elderly in order to develop Korean language and culture programs for them. The survey for this study was designed in consideration of gender, region, educational background, job status, etc. The language and culture programs consist of four areas of curriculum: basic curriculum, personal curriculum, social curriculum, and cultural curriculum. The programs devised to develop according to each curriculum area are as follows: ‘Korean orthography and vocabulary program for social communication’, ‘Self-narrative writing program for healing and reflection’, ‘Intergenerational conflict overcoming speech program’ and ‘Poetry program for the elderly’. The survey for the ‘Korean orthography and vocabulary program for social communication’ identifies the burden and difficulties felt by the elderly regarding new spellings and new words. In the survey for the ‘Self-narrative writing program for healing and reflection’, the respondents' interest in literary works and preferred story subject or form were investigated. In order to develop the ‘Intergenerational conflict overcoming speech program’ program, the requirements of the elderly related to intergenerational communication are investigated. The survey for the development of the ‘Poetry program for the elderly’ provides informations on the elderly's perception of poetry, poets, poetry recitation, and the media. Through this survey, it is possible to devise the development direction and make contents for a Korean language and culture program based on the needs of the elderly.
