본 연구는 한국인 아버지와 외국인 어머니로 이루어진 중학교 2학년 다문화가정 청소년의 이중언어 사용능력과 부모와 대화 시 모국어 사용 정도로 군집분석을 실시하고, 군집 간 심리적 적응, 문화적 적응, 학교생활적응에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상은 다문화청소년패널조사(Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study)에서 구조화된 설문지를 통해 2011년부터 2019년도까지 수집한 1-9차년도 종단연구 데이터 중 5차년도(2015년)의 중학교 2학년 청소년 1286명이다. 다문화가정 청소년의 한국어 능력, 모국어 능력, 모국어 사용 정도를 변인으로 군집분석을 실시한 결과, 모국어 능력 및 모국어 사용정도가 높은 군집(군집1, 486명)과 한국어 능력이 높은 군집(군집2, 800명)으로 구분되었으며 두 군집간 한국어 능력, 모국어능력, 모국어 사용 정도에 유의미한 차이가 나타났다. 두 군집 간 심리적 적응, 문화적 적응, 학교생활적응에 어떠한 차이가 있는지 살펴본 결과, 군집1이 군집2에 비해 자아탄력성, 자아효능감, 이중문화수용성, 학업적응, 교사와의 관계가 유의미하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 통해 이중언어 환경이 다문화가정 청소년의 심리적, 문화적, 학교생활적응의 다양한 측면에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤음을 확인하였으며, 이는 다문화가정에 이중언어 환경의 중요성 및 부모-자녀와의 대화에서 모국어 사용의 중요성을 강조하는 부모교육이 필요함을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to examine differences in psychological, cultural and school adaptation between clusters divided according to bilingual abilities and the amount of mother language usage of adolescents from multicultural families. A total of 1286 second grade middle school students’ data from fifth Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study. Variable clustering with bilingual abilities and the amount of mother language usage split up the whole participants into two groups. Self esteem, ego resilience, bicultural acceptance, multicultural acceptance and school adaptation were compared between two clusters. All three of Korean ability, mother language ability, and the amount of mother language usage were statistically significant factors in cluster variables. All children divided two groups according to bilingual abilities and the amount of mother language usage showed a significant difference. Self- esteem, ego resiliency, bicultural acceptance, adaptation to learning and teacher relationship were significantly different in two groups. The results highlight that the amount of mother language usage along with bilingual abilities plays an important role in psychological, cultural and school adaptation. Our findings suggest that importance of parents training about bilingualism for multicultural families.
