초록/요약
Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 in 2020, school education has been drastically changed from face-to-face classes to online classes. This study aims to investigate the difficulties and opportunities of online classes experienced by secondary school geography teachers (N=12). Teachers reported the lack of presence in class, difficulty in grasping students' understanding, reduced interaction such as questions and feedback, and limitations on fieldwork as difficulties in online classes. On the other hand, they saw the easier online collaborative learning, the use of various learning materials, support for individualized learning, and the increase in the participation of introverted students as opportunities. In addition, teachers evaluated the transition to online classes as an opportunity to experience new teaching methods and new technology. The difficulties and opportunities identified by geography teachers in online classes suggest the tasks for geography education community to address: providing alternative experiences to replace fieldwork, and developing online collaborative inquiry that utilize learners' interconnectivity and diverse data.

2020년 코로나의 발생으로 학교교육은 대면수업에서 원격수업으로 전격적으로 전환되었다. 본 연구의 목표는 중등학교지리교사(N=12)들이 경험한 원격수업의 어려움과 기회를 조사하는 것이다. 교사들은 현장감이 떨어지는 수업, 학생들 이해도 파악의 어려움, 질문과 피드백 등 상호작용 감소, 야외답사의 제약을 원격수업의 어려움으로 꼽았다. 반면, 수월해진 온라인 협력학습, 다양한 학습자료의 활용, 원격수업 콘텐츠를 활용한 개별화 학습 지원, 내성적인 학생들의 참여도 증가를 기회로 보았다. 또한, 원격수업 경험을 새로운 수업방법과 테크놀로지를 배우고 경험할 수 있는 기회로 평가했다. 지리교사들이 원격수업에서 포착한어려움과 기회는 지리교육 공동체가 해결해야 할 과제 - 야외답사를 대신할 수 있는 대안적 경험 제공, 학습자들의 상호연결성과다양한 데이터를 통합한 온라인 협력 탐구활동 개발 -를 제시하고 있다.
