초록/요약
This study aims to define the concept of mathematics education for adults and to examine current status of mathematics education as lifelong learning. Based on systematic reviews on the literature, we classified it into numeracy, mathematics for work, and mathematics for life. Mathematics for work includes basic mathematics for work, university basic mathematics, and mathematics for parents, while mathematics for life includes quantitative literacy and silver mathematics. The current status of mathematics education programs for adults shows that they are not enough to strengthen adults’ mathematical competences. At the end, the further implication and suggestion are provided on the basis of the results from this study.

본 연구는 성인 수학교육의 개념화와 평생교육 현장의 수학교육 실태 파악을 바탕으로 향후 평생학습으로서의 수학교육에의 시사점을 제공하고자 한다. ‘성인’, ‘수학’, ‘literacy’ 또는 ‘numeracy’가 포함된 124개의 문헌과 주요문헌의 참고문헌, 평생교육 관련 기관 사이트의 프로그램을 조사·분석하는 체계적 문헌고찰(systematic review)을 하였다. 성인 수학교육은 수학소양, 직무수학, 생활수학이라는 세 개의 범주로 나뉘며, 하위영역으로는 직무수학에는 직업기초수학, 대학기초수학, 부모수학이, 생활수학에는 수리문해와 실버수학이 있다. 우리나라 성인 수학교육 현황을 분석한 결과 성인들의 수학적인 필요를 충분히 충족하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 성인의 전 생애주기 동안 수학적 필요를 견인할 수 있는 수학소양 규준 및 지표와 제도적인 뒷받침이 필요하며 이에 따른 함의와 시사점을 제시하였다.
