본 연구는 부모의 심리적 통제가 남녀 청소년의 우울에 미치는 직접적인 영향과 내면화된 수치심을 통한 간접적 영향을 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 남녀 고등학생 348명(남학생 141명, 여학생 207명)을 대상으로 자기보고식 설문을 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 수집한 자료는 SPSS 22.0을 사용하여 상관관계분석을 실시하였고, AMOS 23.0 프로그램을 통해 구조방정식모형을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 부모의 심리적 통제가 청소년의 우울에 미치는 직접적 영향은 유의하지 않았다. 그러나 청소년의 내면화된 수치심을 통해 우울에 영향을 미치는 간접적 영향은 남자 청소년의 경우 아버지와의 관계에서만 유의하였고, 여자 청소년의 경우 아버지와 어머니와의 관계에서 모두 유의하였다. 즉, 남자 청소년의 경우 아버지의 심리적 통제를 높게 지각할수록 내면화된 수치심이 높았으며, 내면화된 수치심이 높을수록 우울을 더 많이 보인 반면, 여자 청소년은 부모의 심리적 통제를 높게 지각할수록 내면화된 수치심이 높았으며, 내면화된 수치심이 높을수록 우울을 더 많이 보였다. 이러한 결과는 청소년의 우울 치료 및 상담을 통한 개입 시 아버지와 어머니의 영향이 다름을 인식하고, 청소년의 성별에 따라 개입 방안을 다르게 제공해야 할 필요가 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of the study was to examine direct effects of parental psychological control and indirect effects through internalized shame on depression among adolescents. A total of 348 high school students (141 boys and 207 girls) participated in this study. They completed the self-report questionnaire that included measures of parental psychological control, internalized shame and depression. The data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and structural equation modeling. First, parental psychological control did not have direct effects on high school student’s depression. Second, parental psychological control had indirect effects on girl’s depression through internalized shame. Girls who perceived more parental psychological control had higher levels of internalized shame, and they experienced higher levels of depression. For boys, only paternal psychological control had an indirect effect on depression through internalized shame. The results of this study suggest that it is necessary to recognize that the influence of fathers and mothers is different when intervening through treatment and counseling for adolescents’ depression, and to provide different intervention methods according to the gender of adolescents.
