본 연구는 학교-가정연계 건강 자기옹호 프로그램 개발을 위한 기초연구로서 발달장애 학생의 건강관리 및 교육에 대한 특수교사와 부모의 경험 및 지원요구를 탐색하였다. 이를 위해 초·중·고 특수학급 및 특수학교에 재직 중인 특수교사 15명과 발달장애 학생 및 성인자녀를 둔 부모 21명이 연구에 참여하였으며 특수교사와는 초·중·고 학교급별로 포커스그룹 면담을, 부모와는 개별면담을 진행하였다. 모든 면담은 전사한 후 지속적 비교법을 통해 분석하였으며 그 결과 다음과 같이 4개의 대주제가 도출되었다: 1) 주요 건강문제 및 대처 관련 쟁점, 2) 건강관리 및 교육의 실제, 3) 건강관리 및 교육 관련 지원요구, 4) 학교-가정연계 건강 자기옹호 프로그램 개발 관련 요구. 도출된 대주제 및 하위주제를 토대로 발달장애 학생의 건강 자기옹호 역량 강화를 위해 다음과 같은 제언이 제시되었다: 1) 자기주도적 건강관리를 위한 건강 자기옹호의 필요성 및 역량 강화, 2) 학교-가정연계 건강 자기옹호 프로그램 개발, 3) 지역사회의 협력 지원체계 및 관련 인프라 구축.

The purpose of this study is to explore the experiences and support needs of special education teachers and parents on health care and education for students with developmental disabilities in order to develop health self-advocacy programs with school-home connections. For this purpose, focus group interviews were conducted with 15 special education teachers who are working at elementary, middle, and high schools, and individual interviews were conducted with 21 parents of students and adults with developmental disabilities. All the collected data was analyzed using a constant comparative method. As a result of the analysis, four themes emerged as follows: (a) major health problems and issues in addressing the problems, (b) practices in health care and education, (c) support needs for health care and education, and (d) needs related to development of health self-advocacy programs with school-home connections. Based on the findings, the following implications were provided to enhance health self-advocacy of students with developmental disabilities: (a) necessity of enhancing health self-advocacy for self-directed health care, (b) development of programs to enhance health self-advocacy based on school-home connections, and (c) the establishment of support systems for community collaboration and relevant infrastructure.
