Development of a dance educational program for children based on myth

초록/요약

The purpose of this study is to develop and implement a dance educational program based on myth. Myths are very complex and varied. It is difficult to give a simple definition, but generally it is a sacred story that contains awareness and understanding of the original universe and nature. Myths seem to be telling stories of gods on the surface, but they are fundamentally human stories. These contain the emotions and world views of people from different cultures. And reflect the community identity, way of life, and inner thinking which can help us understand various perspectives of human being. Due to educational values such as stimulating imagination and providing the possibility of creation, there is a need for learning activities to understand and experience myth. The content of the dance program include the national myth and moral behavior patterns to understand basic human nature and behavior. Each class proceeded in the stage of ‘exploring myth’ (observation, imagination), ‘discovering myth’ (imaging design, making a story, composing movement), and ‘displaying myth’ (presentation and appreciation). Though the class, students embarked on a personal and group voyage that permits them to insight their inner selves, explore their feelings and relationships, and clarify human nature and behavior. As a result of the survey, there were specific achievements in terms of ‘convergent thinking’, ‘creative design’, ‘emotional experience’, and ‘physical expression’. The subject of myth can be a fantasy and a story isolated from reality, but by linking it with our lives, it makes the humanistic exploration possible.
