본 연구는 꿈의 오케스트라 활동 경험이 다문화가정 학생들의 삶에 어떠한 영향으로 나타났는지 알아보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 이를 위해 ★★ 꿈의 오케스트라의 다문화가정 학생 5명과 이들의 어머니를 연구 참여자로 선정하여 개별 심층 면담과 참여 관찰하여 사례연구를 진행하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 오케스트라 경험은 연구 참여자들에게 자기 표현력 향상과 사회성에 긍정적인 영향을 주었다. 하지만 사회성의 변화는 주로 초등학교 저학년 학생들에게 나타났으며 고학년으로 올라갈수록 뚜렷하게 나타나지 않았다. 둘째, 꿈의 오케스트라가 단원들에게 악기 제공과 함께 캠프, 연주회, 공연 관람 등을 제공하였는데 이것은 다문화가정에게 사회경제적 혜택을 제공하였을 뿐만 아니라 클래식에 대한 진입장벽을 낮춰 다문화가정의 가족들이 문화예술을 보다 쉽고 다양하게 향유할 수 있도록 도와주었다. 셋째, 꿈의 오케스트라 활동은 다문화가정 학생과 비 다문화가정 학생들이 함께 어울릴 수 있는 교육으로 사회적 통합의 역할을 하였다. 본 연구를 통해 다문화가정 학생들에게 더 좋은 교육 환경이 조성되어 이들이 앞으로 건강한 사회 구성원으로 성장해 나갈 수 있기를 기대한다.

The purpose of this study is to discover the influences of Orchestra education to children from multicultural families and how it changes their life. For this research, 5 children in ‘El Sistema Korea Orchestra’ and their mothers of multinational backgrounds were chosen as participants of the study. The results of this study are as follows. First, through ‘El Sistema Korea Orchestra’, personal enhancements in musical self-efficacy, self-expression were discovered to children from multicultural families. Second, ‘El Sistema Korea Orchestra’, provides its members with musical education and opportunities to enjoy art with their family, also affects the way of family members enjoying culture and arts. Third, ‘El Sistema Korea Orchestra’ which consists of students with various cultural backgrounds plays a role of integrated program where students from multicultural families mingles naturally with non-multicultural students.
