연구목적: 본 연구는 자폐성장애 아동 특수교육대상자 선정 과정에서 주요 역할을 하는 특수교육지원센터를 대상으로 현황과 관련 요구를 살펴보고 필요한 변화와 방향을 탐색하는데 목적을 둔다. 연구방법: 전국 특수교육지원센터 중 128개를 대상으로 자폐성장애 특수교육대상자 선정 및 평가 현황과 그 과정상의 어려움, 자폐성장애 검사도구 관련 요구를 설문을 통해 살펴보았다. 연구결과: 자폐성장애로 의뢰된 아동의 최종 선정 비율에 대한 조사 결과 의뢰아동 대부분이 특수교육대상자로 선정되고 있었으며, 의뢰된 아동이 자폐성장애 외 장애유형으로 선정된 경우는 발달지체, 지적장애 순이었다. 의뢰 사유 1순위는 행동 특성이었고, 평가방식은 외부기관 평가 병행이 가장 많았으나 평가 부재 비중 역시 높았다. 선정 절차에서 자폐성장애 검사도구 외 다양한 검사가 사용되고 있었다. 결론: 이를 토대로 자폐성장애 진단과 관련한 현장 및 후속 연구를 위한 제언이 이루어졌다.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine the overall eligibility determination status and the related needs at the special education support centers, which play an important role in the process of determining eligibility of children with ASD as special education students, and to explore necessary changes and directions. Method: We examined the current status of eligibility determination and evaluation for special education students with ASD, difficulties in its process, and the needs related to testing tools for ASD through a survey of experts in charge at a special education support center. Results: We were able to confirm the following findings: 1) the final determination rate of children who are requested as special education students with ASD was slightly higher than that of all children who are candidates for special education; 2) other final determination cases besides ASD were developmental delay and intellectual disability in that order; 3) the main reason for requesting eligibility determination was behavioral characteristics; 4) in most cases, the evaluation for the requested children was taken from external agencies; and 5) diverse assessment tools to determine ASD were frequently used in the eligibility determination process. Conclusion: Based on the above results, we made suggestions for the fields related to the diagnosis of ASD and future studies.
