이 연구의 목적은 원가정에서 분리되어 아동양육시설에서 생활하고 있는 청소년의 진로와 자립 준비과정을 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 현재 아동양육시설에서 살고 있는 만14∼18세 사이의 여자 청소년 11명을 연구참여자로 선정하였다. 자료수집은 2020년 2월부터 2021년 5월까지 반구조화된 면접질문지를 활용한 개별면담을 통해 이루어졌으며, 면담 내용은 녹취록으로 작성하여 분석에 활용하였다. 시설 청소년이 경험하는 진로와 자립 준비과정을 살펴보고자 이 연구에서는 Strauss와 Corbin(1998)이 제안한 미시분석을 통해 119개의 개념을 도출하였고, 이를 통합하여 41개의 하위 범주와 13개의 범주로 분류하였다. 이상의 연구결과에 따라 도출한 이 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 먼저, 코로나19라는 위기 상황은 아동양육시설 청소년들의 전반적인 삶과 진로 및 자립 준비에 더욱 부정적으로 작용하고 있음을 확인하였다. 한편, 일부 시설 청소년은 시설생활에 안주하여 진로와 자립 준비에 대한 당위성을 인식하지 못하고 있으므로, 이들에 대한 지속적인 모니터링과 사후 관리가 요구된다. 또한, 아동양육시설 청소년은 이른 시기에 자립을 맞이하여 빠르게 진로 결정과 자립을 준비하는 과업이 있었으나 여느 또래들처럼 진로와 자립 준비과정에서 성장하고 발전하는 경험을 하였다. 이 연구는 가정 외 보호체계에 있는 청소년을 위한 진로와 자립 준비 교육과 프로그램의 기획과 개발을 위한 기초자료로서 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

The aim of this study is to understand the career and self-reliance preparation process of adolescents living in child rearing facilities separated from the original family. Eleven female teenagers under the age of 14-18 who are currently living in child rearing facilities were selected as research participants. Data collection was conducted through individual interviews from February 2020 to May 2021. To examine the career and self-reliance preparation process experienced by facility youth, 119 concepts were derived through the micro-analysis by Strauss and Corbin (1998). Concepts were combined and classified into 13 categories and 41 subcategories. The results are as follows. The situation of the COVID-19 crisis had a more negative effect on the overall life and career and self-reliance preparation of facility youth. However, adolescents in some facilities were complacent about facility life and did not recognize the necessity for career and self-reliance preparation. Continuous monitoring and follow-up management are required. Adolescents in facilities faced independence at an early age and were tasked with career decisions earlier than others in the same age range and preparing for independent living. However, there were some adolescents who experienced personal development and growth during the preparation process of career and self-reliance like their peers. This study will be used as basic data for the planning and development of career and self-reliance preparation education and programs for youth in the out-of-home protection system.
