본 연구에서는 다문화 미술교육의 효과에 대하여 메타분석을 통해 종합적으로 분석하였다. 또한 효과크기에 영향을 미치는 조절 변인(대상 연령, 참여 인원, 실시 기간, 실시 횟수, 진행 시간, 프로그램 유형)과 종속 변인(학습자 변인)에 따른 효과를 비교·분석하였다. 2006년부터 2020년까지 발표된 학위논문과 학술지 게재 논문 22편을 대상으로 140개의 효과 크기를 검토하였으며, 자료 분석에는 CMA 2 프로그램을 활용하였다. 그 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 다문화 미술교육 프로그램의 전체 효과 크기는 0.819로 Cohen의 효과 크기 기준으로 높은 수준의 효과 크기를 보이고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 둘째, 조절 변인에 따른 하위 그룹의 효과 크기를 분석해보았을 때, 프로그램 대상 연령에 따라, 연구 참여 인원 및 실시 기간 등의 연구 특성에 따라, 프로그램 유형 등에 따라 유의한 차이를 볼 수 있었다. 셋째, 종속 변인인 학습자 관련 변인중 다문화 인식, 다문화 의식 등의 다문화 관련 변인뿐만 아니라 사회적 행동, 자아 개념, 정서 지능 등 다양한 학습자 변인에서 높은 효과 크기가 나타났다. 본 연구는 최근 학계에서 많은 관심을 가지고 있는 다문화 미술교육의 실질적 효과 크기를 최초로 분석하여 향후 연구 방향성을 제언했다는 점에서 시사점과 의의가 있다.

This study analyzed the effects of multicultural art education through meta-analysis, and analyzed the effects of various regulatory and dependent variables. For the study, 140 effect sizes of 22 dissertations and academic papers published from 2006 to 2020 were reviewed. The results of the study are as follows. First, the overall effect size of the multicultural art education program was 0.819, confirming that it showed a high level of effect size according to Cohen's standard. Second, when the effect size of the subgroups according to the control variable was analyzed, a significant difference could be seen according to the study characteristics and program type. Third, among the dependent variables, learner-related variables, not only multicultural-related variables, but also various learner variables such as social behavior, self-concept, and emotional intelligence showed a high effect size. This study is significant in that it suggested the direction of follow-up research by first analyzing the actual effect size of multicultural art education, which has recently been much interest in academia.
