본 논문은 프랑스의 가장 영향력 있는 환경운동가 가운데 한 명인 피에르 라비의 생태 사상을 연구한다. 본 연구는 우선 라비의 삶과 사상 형성 과정을 개관한다. 연후에 그가 현대의 기계적 자연관과 관행 농법을 비판하면서 ‘어머니 대지’ 관념에 토대를 두고 제시한 ‘농업 생태론’을 고찰한다. 이어서 생태계 위기를 초래한 현대 문명에 대한 라비의 진단과 그에 대한 처방으로 제시한 ‘탈성장’과 ‘단순한 삶’이 과연 무엇이며 또한 그의 관점이 과연 설득력이 있는지에 대해 고찰한다. 본 연구를 통해 우리는 라비 사상의 한계와 그의 공헌을 제시한다. 그는 정연한 생태이론을 제시한 사상가도 아니며 탈성장론을 체계적으로 정립한 사상가도 아니라는 한계를 지닌다. 라비의 주된 공헌은 농업 생태론’을 국내적으로뿐 아니라 국제적으로 확산하고, 책과 강연을 통해, 그리고 생태적 삶을 추구하는 단체들을 설립하고 주도함으로써 많은 이들을 새로운 문명을 위한 생태적 비전에 동참하게 한 점이다.

This paper studies the ecological ideas of Pierre Rabhi, one of France's most influential environmental activists. Since this study is the first paper to deal with Rabhi in Korea, outlines the process of forming Rabhi's life and ideas. Later, we examine the 'agroecology' he proposed based on the "Mother Earth" concept while criticizing modern mechanical nature views and conventional farming methods. Next, we examine what Ravi's diagnosis of modern civilization that caused the ecosystem crisis and what "degrowth" and "simple life" are suggested as prescriptions for it, and whether his perspective is persuasive. Through this study, we present the limitations of Rabhi's ideas and their contributions. He has a limitation that he is neither a thinker who presented a clear ecological theory nor a thinker who systematically established the theory of degrowth. Rabhi's main contribution is to spread 'agroecology' not only domestically but also internationally, and to meet the public through books and lectures, and to establish and lead organizations that pursue ecological life, which led many to join the ecological vision for a new civilization.
