ABSTRACT This study noted that the importance of systematic foresight activities increases as preparation for the future becomes difficult due to the high volatility of the corporate environment. The concept and characteristics of corporate foresight were analyzed, and major issues arising from corporate foresight were derived through case analysis. Corporate foresight referred to here can be defined as a series of activities that predict an uncertain future at the corporate level to secure the ability to respond by detecting changes early. In the study, it was confirmed that corporate foresight can generate meaningful results only when they are actively promoted based on management's understanding of future predictions. Rather than the accuracy of foresight, it can be said the process itself of forming consensus inside and outside the organization and securing the validity of the future prepared by the company through the process of recognition, prediction, and probing of change was meaningful. It is noteworthy that this study analyzed the characteristics and major considerations of corporate foresight through the case of domestic companies in an environment where corporate foresight is often carried out confidentially, internally and rarely systematically.

본 연구는 기업 환경의 높은 변동성으로 기업의 미래를 위한 준비가 어려워짐에 따라 체계적인 미래 예측 활동의 중요성이 높아짐에 주목했다. 기업 미래 예측(corporate foresight)의 개념과 특성을 분석하고, 기업 미래 예측에서 발생하는 주요 이슈를 사례 분석을 통해 도출하였다. 여기서 말하는 기업 미래 예측은 기업 차원에서 불확실한 미래를 예측, 변화를 조기 감지하여 대응할 수 있는 역량을 확보하는 일련의 활동으로 정의할 수 있다. 사례를 통해 기업 미래 예측은 경영진이 미래 예측에 대한 이해도 가지고 활동에 대해 높은 가치를 부여하며 적극적으로 추진해야 유의미한 결과를 창출할 수 있음을 확인하였다. 또한 기업 미래 예측은 예측 결과의 정확도보다는 변화에 대한 인식, 예측, 프로빙의 과정을 통해 미래를 위한 준비 활동과 관련한 조직 내외부의 공감대가 형성되고 투자 타당성을 확보하는 과정적 의미를 가지는 것을 확인하였다. 기업 미래 예측은 기업 내부 보안 활동으로 진행되는 경우가 많고 국내의 경우 체계적인 방법을 이용해 추진하는 경우가 드문 환경에서 본 연구는 국내 기업의 사례를 통해 기업 미래 예측의 특성과 주요 고려 사항을 분석했다는 것에 의의가 있다.
