본 연구는 유아기 자녀를 둔 부모의 신념을 측정할 수 있는 ‘유아기 자녀 부모용 부모신념 척도’의 문항을 개발하고 척도의 타당도와 신뢰도를 검증하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 우선, 문헌 고찰을 통해 부모신념의 개념 및 구조를 분석하였으며, 부모신념을 제대로 측정하기 위한 문항의 형태를 결정하고, 부모 면담을 통해 1차 시안을 작성하였다. 전문가 협의회를 통해 2차 시안을 작성하고, 예비연구를 실시한 후 3차 시안을 결정하였다. 또한 본연구의 문항분석 등을 통해 4차 시안을 확정하고, 확인적 요인분석을 통해 구인타당도를 검증하여 4요인 26문항의 최종 척도를 확정하였다. 내용타당도 검증은 전문가 검토를 통해 이루어졌으며, 준거타당도 검증을 위해 기존 척도와의 상관관계(양육신념 척도 r =-.16∼-.57, p < .05∼.001, 민주적 양육신념 척도 r = .36∼.41, p < .001)를 구하였다. 신뢰도 검증에서는 문항내적일관성신뢰도(Cronbach’s α) .70∼.83, 검사-재검사 신뢰도(r) .57∼.77(p < .001)로 나타나 본 척도가 안정적이고 일관된 척도임을 확인하였다. 이러한 결과는 본 척도가 현대 사회에서 유아기 자녀를 양육하고 있는 우리나라 어머니, 아버지들의 부모신념을 정확하게 측정할 수 있음을 시사한다.

The purpose of this study was to develop a parental beliefs scale for parents of young children and to examine its validity and reliability. First, based on the literature review, the constructs and structure of parental beliefs were analyzed and the form of scale items was determined. Then, based on parent interviews, the first draft of the scale items was developed. Next, the second draft and the third draft were constructed through experts’ reviews and a pilot study, respectively. The fourth draft was constructed by item analyses, and the final scale was confirmed by confirmatory factor analysis (construct validity), resulting in 26 items with 4 factors. Content validity was verified through experts’ reviews, and criterion-related validity was confirmed through the correlation analyses with the existing scales (Questionnaires on Parental Beliefs r = -.16 ~ -.57, p< .05 ~ .001; Authoritative Parenting Beliefs Scale r = .36 ~ .41, p< .001). The reliability was confirmed by internal consistency reliability (Cronbach’s α) resulting in .70 ~ .83, and by test-retest reliability resulting in .57 ~ .77(p < .001), which means overall that the scale is stable and consistent. These results suggest that the developed scale can accurately measure parental beliefs among Korean parents rearing young children.
