텍스트 마이닝을 활용한 국내 개별화 학습 연구동향 분석: TF-IDF, LDA 기반 텍스트 마이닝을 중심으로

최근 급격한 변화를 겪은 교육 환경에서 개별화 학습의 필요성이 더욱 강조되고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 텍스트 마이닝을 활용하여 국내 개별화 학습 연구동향을 확인하고, 앞으로의 개별화 지원에 시사점을 주기 위해 TF-IDF, LDA 기반 텍스트마이닝 기법을 활용하여 2012년부터 2021년까지 10년간의 개별화 학습 연구에서 주요 주제어와 토픽을 확인하였다. 연구 결과 첫째, 개별화 학습 연구는 특히 2019년 이후 발행 수가 급증하는 양상을 보였으며, 학술지별로는 일반 교육학 분야와 학제간 연구 분야의 학술지에서의 발행 수가 가장 많았다. 둘째, TF-IDF 기반 빈도 분석 결과, ‘모형’, ‘시스템’, ‘콘텐츠’, ‘프로그램’, ‘장애’, ‘인공지능’, ‘개별화교육계획’ 등의 주제어가 도출되었다. 특히 ‘모형’, ‘시스템’, ‘프로그램’ 등의 주제어는 TF와 TF-IDF 모두 상위 5위 이내에 위치하여 빈도 및 중요도 면에서 연구동향을 나타내는 주제어로 볼 수 있다. 셋째, LDA 기반 토픽모델링 결과, 도출된 토픽 6개는 ‘토픽 1: 특수교육에서의 개별화 학습’, ‘토픽 2: 개별화 학습 프로그램의 효과’, ‘토픽 3: 온라인 기반 개별화 학습 시스템’, ‘토픽 4: 교과교육에서의 개별화 학습’, ‘토픽 5: 대학에서의 인공지능·데이터 기반 개별화 학습’, ‘토픽 6: 개별화 학습 교육과정 개발 및 교원 양성’이었다. 6개 토픽 모두 10년간 전반적으로 증가하는 양상을 보였으나, 특히 토픽 3과 5의 경우 2019년 이후 급증하여 코로나19 발생 이후 비대면 학습 환경에서 개별화 학습을 지원하는 시스템과 데이터를 통한 학습 환경 설계에 대한 관심이 증가하였음을 확인할 수 있었다. 마지막으로 본 연구에서는 이와 같은 연구 결과를 종합하여 현 시점에 필요한 개별화 학습에 대한 후속연구와 개별화 학습 환경 구축 측면에서 통합적 관점으로 접근할 필요가 있음을 제언하였다.

Personalized learning is an important issue of future education. PL contributed to the learner-centered education paradigm, and the necessity was further emphasized in an educational environment undergoing rapid changes. This study aims to explore PL research trends by using the text-mining method. The analysis was conducted for ten years of PL research from 2012 to 2021. As a result of TF-IDF analysis, keywords such as ‘model’, ‘system’, ‘content’, ‘program’, ‘disability’, ‘AI,’ and ‘Individualized Education Plan’ were commonly derived from 10 years of research. In addition, the six topics derived from LDA-based topic modeling were ‘Topic 1: PL in Special Education’, ‘Topic 2: Effectiveness of PL Program’, ‘Topic 3: Online-based PL System’, ‘Topic 4: PL in Curriculum and Instruction’, ‘Topic 5: AI and Data-based PL in Higher Education’, and ‘Topic 6: PL Curriculum Development and Teacher Professional Development’. The frequencies of all six topics have overall increased over the past ten years, but in particular, topic 3 and 5 increased further after 2019. The results indicate that interest in designing online personalized learning systems and evidence-based individualized learning has increased after COVID-19. Accordingly, the current study suggests that an integrative approach is required for the design and research in PL.
