초록/요약
The purpose of this study was to conduct the theoretical review of the rhizome, which is emerging along with the phenomenon of convergence and fusion in modern society, and to understand the meaning of various expansive phenomena in modern fashion design. Also, based on this above, the research aimed to analyze the Soundsuit of Nick Cave, who is working through the combination between various fields, from the point of view of rhizome, along with consideration of its meaning. As for the research method, the concepts, systems, principles and characteristics of rhizome were examined based on various literature and previous studies. In the case of Nick Cave and Soundsuit, data were collected and analyzed in detail through precedent papers, overseas books, magazines, gallery materials, and YouTube videos. Accordingly, the meaning of Nick Cave’s Soundsuit from rhizome’s point of view was as follows. First, it was possible to see atypical forms of various shapes and silhouettes of deformed structures that deviated from stereotypes of the human body as a fashion of the body. Second, it was found to be a new art genre combining fashion, sculpture, performance, and media art as the post-genre art that deconstructs the framework of the cultural hierarchy. Third, as a medium of post-culture, it was found that it is a medium of new cultural identity that breaks the frame of race, class, and gender, and a medium that connects cultural elements of various countries. The conclusions of the study based on these findings are as follows. First, it was found that the rhizome phenomenon creates a new culture and value of modern fashion along with the convergence between society, politics, economy, culture, and art. Second, Nick Cave’s Soundsuit is a new type of fashion work, and it can be seen that it delivers a powerful message to society through the combination of various elements and media. Third, from the perspective of rhizome, it was found that Nick cave’s Soundsuit has meaning as a medium of post-body fashion, post-genre art, and post-culture.

본 연구는 현대 사회에 융·복합 현상과 함께 대두되고 있는 리좀에 대한 이론적 고찰과 현대 패션디자인의 다양한 확장적 현상의 의미를 파악하고, 이를 바탕으로 다양한 영역 간에 결합을 통해 작품 활동을 하고 있는 닉 케이브의 사운드수트를 리좀의 관점에서 분석하여 그 의미를 살펴보고자 하는데 목적을 두었다. 연구의 방법은 다양한 문헌 연구와 선행 연구들을 바탕으로 리좀의 개념과 체계 및 원리와 특성을 살펴보았으며, 닉 케이브와 사운드수트의 경우에는 선행 논문, 해외 서적, 매거진, 갤러리자료 및 유투브 영상 등을 통하여 자료를 수집하고 면밀히 분석하였다. 이에 리좀의 관점에서 본 닉케이브의 사운드수트의 의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 탈신체의 패션으로서 다양한 형상의 비정형화된 형태와 인체의 고정관념을 벗어난 변형된 구조의 실루엣을 볼 수 있었다. 둘째, 탈장르의 예술로서 문화위계의 틀을 해체시키는 예술이자 패션, 조각, 퍼포먼스, 미디어아트가 결합된 새로운 예술 장르임을알 수 있었다. 셋째, 탈문화의 매체로서 인종, 계급, 성별의 틀을 깬 새로운 문화 정체성의 매체이자다양한 나라의 문화 요소들을 이어주는 매개체임을 알 수 있었다. 이를 바탕으로 한 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 리좀 현상은 사회, 정치, 경제, 문화, 예술 간의 융합과 더불어 현대 패션의 새로운문화형성과 가치를 창출하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 둘째, 닉 케이브의 사운드수트는 새로운 형식의 패션작품으로 다양한 요소와 매체들의 결합을 통해 사회에 강력한 메시지를 전달하는 것을 알 수 있었다. 셋째, 리좀의 관점에서 바라본 닉 케이브의 사운드수트는 탈신체의 패션, 탈장르의 예술, 탈문화의 매체로서 그 의미를 갖고 있음을 알 수 있었다.
