초록/요약

본 연구는 사회복지사의 공감 수준을 측정할 수 있는 도구로서 척도를 개발하고 타당성을 검증하는데 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 국내외 문헌, 기존 이론과 척도를 검토하여 주요 요소들을 도출하였다. 느낌, 생각, 책임감 3가지 항목과 42문항의 예비문항을 선별하였고, 이를 토대로 내용타당도 검증, 예비조사와 통계분석을 실시했으며, 최종적으로 느낌, 생각, 행동, 사회적 책임 4가지 항목과 45문항으로 나타났다. 최종 척도를 평가하기 위해 총 311명 사회복지실천현장의 사회복지사를 대상으로 온라인 조사를 실시했고 최종적으로 302명 설문지를 바탕으로 분석하였다. 척도의 타당도 및 신뢰도를 검증하기 위하여 빈도분석과 기술통계분석, 확인적 요인분석, 신뢰도 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과, 느낌(9문항), 생각(5문항), 행동(4문항), 사회적 책임(7문항) 4개 하위요인이 확정되었고, 25문항으로 최종 추출되었다. 최종 척도는 모형적합도 및 내적일관성 신뢰도 .90으로 양호했다. 구성타당도, 수렴타당도, 판별타당도 검증에서 유의미한 결과를 보임에 따라 타당성 있는 척도임이 확인되었다. 따라서 본 척도는 사회복지사의 공감을 적절하게 설명하고 있으며, 사회복지실천 현장에서 공감에 대한 폭넓은 자기점검 도구로서 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것이다.

This study aims to develop and initially validate the Empathy Scale as a tool to measure social workers’ capacity for empathy. We administered the 42-item scale on a three-factor basis. Based on this, we evaluated its content validity, and the results of a preliminary online survey and a statistical analysis. The scale came to consist of four factors (feeling, thinking, action, and social responsibility) with a total of 45 items. To verify the validity and reliability of the scale, a frequency analysis, descriptive statistic analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and reliability analysis were performed. As a result of the study, the good fit of the four-factor model of the final scale was conceptualized as feeling(9-items), thinking(5-items), action(4-items), and social responsibility(7-items). The estimated internal consistency of the final scale was at an acceptable level, which showed a reliability of .90. The scale has been proven appropriate, as its construct validity, convergent validity, and discriminant validity were verified. Therefore, this scale adequately evaluates social workers’ empathy, and it can be used in a wide range of self-inspection tools for empathy at social work practice sites.
