발달장애인의 사회적 의사소통 능력 향상을 위해 보완대체 의사소통(AAC) 도구 개발이 증가하고 있지만, 의료서비스 이용은 여전히 제한적이다. 본 연구에서는 문헌조사를 통해 AAC 개발의 현황을 알아보고, 의료용 AAC 개발단계를 목표로 기존 AAC 개발 프로세스를 보완하여 제시하였다. 또한, 최근 개발된 의료서비스용 AAC 도서인 <참지마요: 몸이 아파요> 의 콘텐츠 구성과 디자인이 타겟 사용자에게 잘 맞는지 특수교육 전문가 평가를 진행하였다. 전문가 평가 결과, 발달장애인을 위한 의료용 AAC로써 한 페이지에 보이는 그림의 수, 사용된 색깔, 표현의 순서 등은 적절한 것으로 판단되었으나, AAC 활용방법이 직관적이지 않고 증상의 표현이 너무 어렵다는 등의 문제가 발견되었다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 사례 분석을 통해 의료용 AAC 디자인을 제안하였으며, 앞으로의 의료용 AAC 개발에서 주의할 점과 보완되어야 할 점을 짚어보고 그 의미를 논의하였다. 더 나아가, 이러한 분석 결과를 토대로 의료용 모바일 AAC를 제안하고 UI 제작툴인 Figma를 활용하여 화면 프로토타입을 제시하고, 전문가 피드백 세미나를 통해 앞으로의 의료용 AAC 개발 방향을 논의하였다.

Despite the rising interest in Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) in the special education field, there is still lack of studies for communication tools for people with developmental disorder when visiting the hospital. In this study, the authors review existing AAC developing process and propose an additional AAC development steps for medical service use. To implement and review the additional steps, this study used expert evaluation interviews. A total of 16 special education experts were recruited to evaluate the case of recently published medical AAC called “I am sick”. As a result, the expert review revealed that current expressions used in the medical AAC are too difficult for person with developmental disability, while the overall visual composition and style of the graphic symbols are appropriate for communication support in medical situations. Based on the review results, this study also propose a mobile AAC for hospital use, using Figma prototyping tool and discuss the future direction of medical AAC development through expert feedback seminar.
