본 연구에서는 그동안 개발된 과학영재교육 프로그램의 질적 수준을 파악하는 데 목적을 두고 연구자가 개발한 과학영재교육 프로그램 평가 기준을 사용하여 영재교육종합데이터베이스에 탑재된 영재교육 프로그램 중 201 3년~2020년까지개발된 과학 영역(생명 과학 분야)의 총 1 01개(중등 56개, 초등 45개)의 프로그램을 분석했다. 분석 결과 초·중등 프로그램의대부분이 수준 3(보통)과 수준4(높음)의 급간 경계에 있어 초·중등 모두 프로그램의 수준이 높지 않았다. 평가 기준의 11개주요 특성 분석 결과 주요 특성별 높고 낮은 적합도를 보이는 평가 항목들을 파악할 수 있었다. 수준 1(매우 낮음)에 해당하는 주요 특성은 초·중등 공통적으로 ‘차별화의 본질’이었고 수준 2(낮음)에 해당하는 항목은 모두 학생 중심 활동과 관련된 것들이었다. 주요 특성별 적합도 수준 또한 높지 않았다. 평가 기준에 따라 수준 높은 프로그램이 되려면 각 주요 특성별 적합도는 적어도 수준 4(높음) 이상이어야 하며 주요 특성별 평가 항목의 합산 점수는 29~30점 이상이어야 한다. 따라서질 높은 과학 영재교육 프로그램을 개발하거나 선택할 때 과학 영재교육 프로그램 평가 기준을 사용하여 낮은 수준으로 나타난 평가 항목은 반드시 개선하여 영재교육 프로그램의 질적 향상이 도모되어야 한다.

In this study, the evaluation criteria of the science-gifted education program developed by the researcher were used to determine the quality level of the science-gifted education program developed so far. Among the gifted education programs loaded in the Gifted Education Database (GED), an analysis was conducted on a total of 101 programs (56 secondary school programs and 45 elementary school programs) in the scientific field (biology) developed from 2013 to 2020. As a result of the analysis, most of the elementary and secondary programs were at the boundary between level 3 (normal) and level 4 (high), indicating the level of the program was not high both in elementary and secondary schools. With the results of analysis on 11 major characteristics of the evaluation criteria, evaluation items showing high and low suitability for each major characteristic were identified. The main characteristics corresponding to level 1 (very low) were ‘the essence of differentiation’ both in elementary and secondary schools, and all the items corresponding to level 2 (low) were related to student activities. The level of suitability by major characteristics was also not high. In order to be a high-quality program based on the evaluation criteria, it has to be at least level 4 (high) in the fitness for each key characteristic and the combined score of the evaluation items for each key characteristic has to be 29 to 30 points or higher. Based on the findings, when developing or selecting a high-quality science-gifted education program, for evaluation items showing low results in the science-gifted education program evaluation criteria, improvement needs to be made for the quality of the gifted education program.
