초록/요약
생태 수용력을 초과한 고도의 산업화와 무분별한 소비는 환경을 위협하고 지구의 자정 능력을 감퇴시켜 인류의 미래를 위협하고 있다. 이에 본 연구의 목적은 환경과 인류에 대한 책임을 직면하고 자원순환 차원의 업사이클링 패션디자인 연구를 통하여 사회문제 해결에 기여하는 패션디자인 방법을 제안함에 의의가 있다. 연구의 방법은 업사이클링에 대한 문헌 연구 및 텐트의 조형성 탐구와 폐텐트 활용 업사이클링을 위한 시각자료를 통한 사례 분석으로 진행되었으며 이를 근간으로 디자인 방법을 제안하고 3벌의 작품을 제작한다. 본 연구의 결론은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 텐트의 기능적 구조를 디자인에 활용하여 새로운 조형성과 구조미를 제시할 수 있었다. 둘째, 해체한 텐트의 사다리꼴 등 예각의 조각들은 옷으로 재탄생되었을 때 경쾌함과 역동성을 표출하였다. 셋째, 해체한 텐트 조각 가장자리의 시접이 이미 마감처리가 되어 있는 부분을 옷의 가장자리로 배치하면 제작 시간을 절감할 수 있었다. 넷째, 텐트에 사용되는 원단은 옷으로 구성 시 기능적, 미적으로 긍정적인 역할을 한다. 다섯째, 장식 봉제 기법은 옷에 심미성을 부가하는 역할뿐 아니라 길이와 품을 조절하는 기능을 더해 주었다. 여섯째, 텐트의 지퍼와 고리 등을 가변적 디테일로 활용할 수 있었다. 이를 통해 본 연구는 폐텐트를 활용한 업사이클링 패션디자인이 자원의 순환을 도모하여 환경문제 해결에 기여할 가능성이 있으며, 새로운 디자인 및 스타일을 제안할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

A high degree of industrialization and reckless consumption that exceed biocapacity are threatening the future of humanity by disrupting the environment and reducing the ability of the planet to regenerate itself. Therefore, this study aims to propose a fashion design method that may contribute to solving the social problems, in the face of responsibility for the environment and humanity, and examine upcycling fashion design in the dimension of resource circulation. In this study, case analysis was performed through literature review on upcycling, exploration on formativeness of tents, and visual data for upcycling discarded tents, and a design method was proposed based on the analysis for producing 3 looks of works. The results of this study are as follows. First, a new form and structural beauty were presented by utilizing the functional structure of the tent in the design. Second, lightness and dynamism were expressed when sharp-angled pieces such as the trapezoid of the dismantled tent were reborn as clothes. Third, the production time could be reduced by placing the part where the seam allowance of the dismantled tent piece had already been finished to the edge of the clothing. Fourth, fabrics used for tents could play a positive role both functionally and aesthetically when composed of clothes. Fifth, the decorative sewing technique not only added aesthetics to the clothes, but also added the function of adjusting the length and width. Sixth, the zippers and hooks of the tent could be used as variable details. In conclusion, this study had its implication in that it demonstrated upcycling fashion design using discarded tents can contribute to solving environmental problems by promoting the circulation of resources, proposing new designs and styles.
