본 연구의 목적은 코로나19와 같은 재난 상황에서의 미혼모의 돌봄 부담은 어떠하였는지 당사자들의 목소리를 통해 듣고 이해하는 것이다. 이를 위해 코로나19 상황에서 아이를 돌보는 미혼모 5명을 대상으로 개별 심층 면접을 진행하고 질적 연구방법으로 분석하였다. 연구결과 ‘코로나19에 불안하지만 담담한 일상’, 코로나19로 더 벌어지는 교육격차’, 재난 상황으로 더 고단해진 나 홀로 돌봄’, 중복 재난으로 끝에 다다른 임계치’라는 4개의 상위범주와 10개의 하위범주를 도출하였다. 거리 두기로 인해 좁은 공간에 갇혀 지내야 했던 미혼모와 아동들은 중복 재난 상황에 처해진 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 재난 상황은 취약계층인 미혼모들에게 더 깊게 파고들어 돌봄 부담이 더 과중되었음이 확인되었다. 이러한 결과를 토대로 코로나19와 같은 재난 상황에서의 미혼모 돌봄 부담을 줄이기 위한 정책 및 실천적 방안에 대해 제언하였다.

The purpose of this study was to understand the experience of single mothers about caring for children in disaster situations such as the COVID-19 through the voices of the single mothers. To this end, five single mothers who took care of their children in the COVID-19 were selected. Individual in-depth interviews and a qualitative study method were conducted. As a result of analyzing the contents, four categories such as ‘uneasy but calm daily life even with COVID-19’, ‘educational gap widening due to COVID-19’, ‘more difficult solo care due to the disaster’ and ‘last limit reached to the end by overlapping disasters’ and 10 sub-categories were derived. Single mothers and children who had to be trapped in narrow spaces due to social distancing were found to be in a double disaster situation. This disaster situation was found to have penetrated deeper into single mothers, who were vulnerable, and the burden of care was heavier. Based on these results, practice and policy suggestions were proposed to reduce the burden of caring among single mothers in disaster situations such as COVID-19.
