An exploration of improving elementary Korean textbook questions

초록/요약

이 연구에서는 초등 국어 교과서에 수록된 질문에 대한 학생들의 반응을 분석하여질문 개선 방안을 탐색하고자 하였다. 교과서는 학습자의 자기주도적인 학습을 위한기초 자료로서 질문과 설명을 중심으로 구성된다, 그중 질문은 학습자의 주도적인 학습경험을 촉발하며 학습의 방향과 범위를 설정하는 역할을 한다는 점에서 교과서에 수록된 질문의 적절성에 대한 검토는 매우 중요하다. 이에 이 연구에서는 초등 4학년 학습자들을 대상으로 국어 교과서에 수록된 질문에 대한 반응 양상을 질적으로 분석하여 이를토대로 초등 국어 교과서 질문 개선 방향을 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 초등 국어교과서에 수록된 질문의 레퍼토리가 다양해져야 할 필요가 있다. 둘째, 텍스트 중간에제시되는 질문의 필요성과 적절성에 대한 검토가 필요하다. 셋째, 질문의 내용이 구체적이고 절차적이어야 한다. 넷째, 학습자의 학습을 촉진하기 위한 양질의 질문이 필요하다. 이 연구는 실제 학습자들의 반응을 중심으로 교과서 질문의 적절성을 검토하였다는점에서 의의가 있으며, 연구 결과는 후속 연구와 향후 개발될 국어 교과서 질문 개선에기여할 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

초록/요약

This study attempted to explore ways to improve questions by analyzing students’ responses to questions contained in elementary Korean textbooks. Textbooks are composed of questions and explanations as basic materials for learners’ self-directed learning. Among them, questions trigger learners’ leading learning experiences and play a role in setting the direction and scope of learning, so it is very important to review the appropriateness of questions in textbooks. Therefore, in this study, the response pattern to questions contained in Korean textbooks was qualitatively analyzed for fourth-grade elementary school learners, and based on this, the direction of improving questions in elementary Korean textbooks was presented as follows. First, the repertoire of questions contained in elementary Korean textbooks needs to be diversified. Second, it is necessary to review the necessity and appropriateness of the questions presented in the middle of the text. Third, the content of the question must be specific and procedural. Fourth, high-quality questions are needed to promote learners’ learning. This study is significant in that it reviewed the appropriateness of textbook questions, focusing on the responses of actual learners, and can contribute to improving Korean textbook questions to be developed in the future.
