This study aimed to examine the relationship between internalization of sociocultural attitudes towards appearance and disorder eating behaviors among Korean female undergraduate students. 326 korean female undergraduate students completed the self-report survey assessing Sociocultural Attitudes towards Appearance(SATAQ), Social Physique Anxiety(SPAS), Physical Comparison(Specific Attributes Comparison Scale ; SACS & Physical Appearance Comparison Scale ; PACS) and Eating Attitude (The Korean Version of Eating Attitude Test-26: KEAT26). Collected data was analyzed using SPSS 20.0 and M plus 7.0. The present study hypothesized that social physique anxiety and appearance-related social comparison would mediate the relationship between internalization of sociocultural attitudes towards appearance and disordered eating behaviors. Results showed that appearance-related social comparison mediated the relationship between internalization of sociocultural attitudes towards appearance and eating disorder symptoms. We also found that the link between internalization of sociocultural attitudes towards appearance and eating disorder symptoms were mediated by social physique anxiety and appearance-related social comparison, respectively. Based on the results, the limitations of this study and implications for future researches were discussed.
