초록/요약
이 글에서는 함경도 방언 연구의 현황을 검토하고 이를 바탕으로 앞으로의 연구 과제를 제안하였다. 기존의 연구 성과를 연구 대상 자료, 연구 대상 지역, 연구 주제에 따라 분류하고 이들의 전체 분포 양상 및 시기별 분포 양상을 살펴보았다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 연구 대상 자료의 측면에서, 기존의 함경도 방언 연구는 국외 이주 한민족의 언어 자료에 근거한 것이 가장 많았다. 둘째, 연구 대상 지역의 측면에서, 함북 육진 지역의 방언에 연구가 집중되어 있었다. 셋째, 연구 주제의 측면에서, 음성・음운 분야에 연구가 편중되어 있었다. 본고는 이 같은 현황 분석을 바탕으로 향후 함경도 방언 연구의 과제를 제안하였다.

This study was conducted to determine the current status of Hamgyeong-do dialect research and identify future research tasks based on the results. Existing research achievements were classified according to the materials and regions studied and their research topics. In addition, their overall distribution was examined as well as their distribution over time. There were three major results. The first result was that most research examined language data from ethnic Koreans who had migrated abroad. The second result was that most research examined dialects of people from the Yukjin area of North Hamgyeong province. The third result was that most of the research examined phonetics and phonology. Based on these results, this article contains proposals for future research tasks on Hamgyeong-do dialects.
