고교학점제 연구·준비학교에서의 경제 영역 과목 개설·운영 현황 분석

A Research on the Current Status of Economics Education Course Offerings and Operations in High School Credit System Pilot Schools

본 연구는 고교학점제 시범 도입 학교에서의 경제교육 현황을 파악하기 위하여, 2022년 기준 전국 17개 시·도 고교학점제 연구·준비학교 1,439개교를 대상으로 ‘경제’, ‘실용 경제’, ‘국제 경제’ 과목 개설 및 교육과정 운영 양상을 조사·분석하였다. 연구 결과, 전체 60.95%의 학교에서 평균 0.78개의 경제 영역 과목이 개설되었고, ‘경제’ 51.49%, ‘실용 경제’ 16.89%, ‘국제 경제’ 8.27%를 차지하였다. 서울(91.78%), 인천(80.65%), 경기(72.45%) 순서로 수도권 지역에서의 경제 영역 과목 개설 비율이 비수도권 지역보다 높았다. 연구학교(72.09%)가 준비학교(60.24%)에 비해 개설률이 높았고, 대규모(69.88%), 중규모(56.48%), 소규모(31.05%) 학교간 개설률 차이가 드러났다. 공동교육과정(3.03%) 운영은 단독교육과정(96.97%)에 비해 미비한 수준이었으나, ‘국제 경제’(73.50%) 과목 및 소규모 학교(11.76%)가 상대적으로 높은 비중을 차지하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 2025년 고교학점제 전면 도입을 앞두고 향후 경제교육의 과제와 지향점을 탐색하는데 유용한 실증 자료 및 유의미한 시사점을 제공한다.

This study explores the current status of economic education in High School Credit System (HSCS) pilot schools nation wide, investigating their course offerings and curriculum operation as of 2022. An average of 0.78 courses in economics were opened in 60.95% of the HSCS schools, in the order of‘ Economics’ 51.49%, ‘Practical Economics’ 16.89%, and ‘International Economics’ 8.27%. The course offering rates were higher in metropolitan areas including Seoul (91.78%), Incheon (80.65%), and Gyeonggi (72.45%). Research Schools (72.09%) had a higher opening rate than Preparatory Schools (60.24%), while there was a gap observed among large (69.88%), medium (56.48%), and small (31.05%) size schools. The operation of Joint Curriculum (3.03%) was at a low level, yet relatively active in ‘International Economics’ (73.50%) and in small size schools (11.76%). The results of this study provide useful empirical data and meaningful implications for exploring the directions of high school economic education ahead of the full adoption of the HSCS in 2025.
