다문화 사회에서 함께 발전적이고 지속해서 살아가기 위해서는 지금까지의 다문화 교육에서 목표로 한 문화 간 공존을 넘어서서 상호 열린 대화와 소통이 중점인 상호문화주의에 기반한 교육이 필요한 시점이라고 할 수 있다. 상호문화교육의 필요성에 따라 본 연구는 상호문화주의에 기초한 미술수업이 다문화가정 초등학생의 문화적 민감성에 어떠한 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구 대상은 실험에 동의한 서울시 강서구 B와 구로구 P지역아동센터에 다니는 다문화가정 초등학생 12명으로, 총 8차시의 상호문화주의에 기반한 미술수업을 진행하였다. 연구 결과 분석을 위해 문화적 민감성의 사전·사후 검사를 실시하고, 수업의 효과성을 검증하기 위하여 수업 만족도 설문조사와 자기 평가 및 동료 평가, 실시 결과물과 활동지, 연구 대상자 인터뷰의 질적 자료를 교사의 관찰평가를 통해 수집하였다. 사전·사후 평가를 비교·분석한 결과 통계적으로 유의미한 결과를 얻지는 못했지만 질적 자료의 분석을 통해 연구의 효과성을 추가로 확인할 수 있었다. 본 연구의 분석 결과 상호문화주의에 기반한 미술수업은 다문화가정 초등학생의 문화적 민감성에 긍정적인 영향을 미쳤음을 알 수 있다. 다문화 사회의 구성원들이 갖추어야 할 문화적 민감성 및 다양한 역량 함양을 위해 상호문화 미술교육 분야에서의 활발한 연구가 필요하다.

In order to develop and continue to live together in a multicultural society, it is necessary to go beyond the intercultural coexistence that has been taken in multicultural education so far and to develop an education based on interculturalism, which focuses on mutual open dialogue and communication. Accordingly, this study analyzed the effects of an art class based on interculturalism on the cultural sensitivity of elementary school students from multicultural families. The subjects of the study were 12 elementary school students from multicultural families attending community children's centers in Gangseo-gu B and Guro-gu P, Seoul, who participated in eight sessions of interculturalism-based art classes. A pre- and post-test for cultural sensitivity was conducted, and qualitative data from class satisfaction surveys, self-assessment and peer assessment, practical outcomes and activity sheets, and interviews with participants were collected through teacher observation to verify the effectiveness of the class. Although statistically significant results were not obtained as a result of comparing and analyzing the pre- and post-assessments, the effectiveness of the study was further confirmed through analysis of qualitative data. The results of this study suggest that art classes based on interculturalism had a positive effect on the cultural sensitivity of elementary school students from multicultural families.
