아동의 건강한 발달과 성장을 지원하는 양질의 놀이환경 제공을 위해 공간복지의 관점에서실외놀이공간의 환경적 특성을 분석하고 이에 대한 개선방안 및 시사점을 제안한다. 놀이환경의평가 기준을 통합하여 서울의 아동 가구가 많은 저층 대상지에 적용할 수 있는 평가 기준을 도출하고 현장답사에 기반하여 실외놀이공간을 관찰하고 평가하였다. 영유아 및 아동의 인구수가많은 5개의 연구 대상지를 선정하여 현장답사와 GIS분석을 통해 데이터를 수집하고 평가한 결과 아동 실외놀이공간은 놀이기구의 양과 질, 편의시설, 유지관리 측면에서 대체로 우수하게 나타났으나 놀이영역의 다양성, 자연 바닥재의 사용, 체험형 자연요소 설치 등의 측면에서 일부미흡하게 나타났다. 이를 바탕으로 실외놀이공간을 공급하는 주체가 환경의 전반적인 관리와 실외놀이공간 조성 시 고려해야 할 사항들을 제안하였다. 특히 그중에서도 아동을 위한 실외놀이공간의 면적과 무장애 설계에 대한 논점을 제시하며 이에 대한 연구의 필요성을 제기하였다.

Providing a high-quality play environment is crucial for children’s development and growth. This study aims to analyze the environmental characteristics of outdoor play spaces and provide improvement implications to promote children’s spatial welfare. Various evaluation criteria for play environments were integrated to derive appropriate evaluation criteria applicable to low-rise sites for households with children. Five study sites with large populations of infants and children were selected, and data were collected and evaluated through field visits and GIS analysis. As a result, the children’s outdoor play space was generally good in terms of the quantity and quality of play equipment, convenience facilities, and maintenance. However, diversity of the play area, use of natural flooring, and installation of natural elements were found to be insufficient. Based on this, we propose matters that providers of outdoor play spaces should consider when managing and creating overall outdoor play spaces and the need for research on the sizea and barrier-free design of outdoor play spaces was presented.
