그림은 그림 설명하기 과제로서 언어능력을 진단하거나 실어증을 포함한 신경언어장애군의 언어중재에 활용되어 중요한 역할을 한다. 현재 국내에서 가장 일반적으로 사용되고 있는 그림 설명하기 과제 그림은 한국의 언어 및 문화적 측면과 주요 타켓인 노년층에 맞는 디자인 요소가 고려되지 않았다. 이에 노화에 따른 신체 및 인지적 기능이 고려된 한국판 그림이 필요한 실정이다. 이를 위해 한강을 그림의 장소로 선정한 후 인물, 행동, 사물, 배경, 동사를 기준으로 상황 연출의 핵심 요소를 추출하였다. 이후 노년층의 그림 인지를 위한 기준을 정립하고, 이를 적용한 디자인 요소를 반영하여 한국 노년층을 대상으로 한 새로운 그림 설명하기 과제를 제작하였다. 그림은 체계적인 연구를 통해 디자인관점에서 개선되었다고 할 수 있으며 그림 설명하기 과제의 그림 개발의 초석연구로 활용될 것이다.

Pictures play an important role in diagnosing language abilities through picture description tasks (PDT) and in language interventions for neurolinguistic disorders including aphasia. Currently, the most commonly used PDT in Korea do not consider Korean linguistic and cultural aspects, as well as design elements that are specific to the main target, seniors. Therefore, there is a need for a Korean version that takes the physical and cognitive characteristics of aging into account. To do this, We selected the Han River as the background of the picture, which described different situations within, and extracted key elements such as people, actions, objects, backgrounds, and verbs. We then defined the standards of effortless image recognition for older people and applied this to construct a new illustration and a PDT tailored to the Korean senior population. This illustration has been modeled applying the principles of design based on thorough systematic research and will be used as a foundational study for further development of PDT in the future.
