초록/요약

This study aims to investigate the specific meaning of participating in career-related work experiential internship programs, with the purpose of increasing support for the career development of undergraduate students majoring in arts and culture. The research participants selected were four male and female youths in their early 20s who had participated in a work experiental internship program at a private company to enhance career competencies during their undergraduate years. Qualitative research was conducted based on a systematic research design that starts with data triangulation such as individual in-depth interviews, focus group interviews, and questions and answers, which were to seek in-depth responses to the research questions. A total of 13 subordinate and 4 superordinate constructs were identified as a result of data analysis. The superordinate constructs are: ‘the long-held dream that has grown bigger while working in the field of arts and culture,’ ‘the plan polished up leisurely during internship experience to become an artist and a cultural worker,’ ‘the student intern feeling out of place in the fancy and glamorous organization of arts and culture,’ and ‘the internship that is taken earlier than planned in order to rise as an artist and a cultural worker in the near future.’ The central theme was ‘the dream of definitely becoming an artist and a cultural worker by leaping from the reality that is faced earlier.’ Finally, based on the research findings, this study suggested ways to improve internal stability in operating career-related internship programs for undergraduate students majoring in arts and culture, increase and promote user participation, and effectively support career development.
